COLUMBUS, Ohio (October 11, 2009) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) bucked into The Buckeye State of Ohio for the 2009 Cooper Tires Invitational, stop no. 30 of 31 on the elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) tour.  Fans were treated to the 40 best bull riders in the world as they competed against top bulls from across the country at Columbus’ Nationwide Arena.  In the end, leading contender for the 2009 Daisy Rookie of the Year standings Cody Nance (Paris, Tenn.) emerged victorious after scoring 264.75 points on three bulls, taking home the coveted event title.  Nance added $32,980 to his bank account as well as valuable points to his 2009 Built Ford Tough Series World Standings and extended his lead on the Rookie of the Year race.  This win was not only his second in the 2009 season, but his second BFTS career victory.

“It’s really a blessing,” said Nance from the winner’s circle.  “I think a lot of it.  I’ve been a ton of bulls in my life and thank God I’ve been really healthy and that I’m healthy now and that I’ve got this win under my belt and the one before.”

In round one, Nance rode the bull, White Trash of Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC, for 85.5 points.  He followed that up with a third place finish in round two after taking on Danny Regan Bucking Bulls’ Big Rig for 88.25 points.  Nance entered the Built Ford Tough Championship Round in first place on two bulls with a total of 173.75 points, giving him the first pick in the PBR Bull Draft.  He chose to get on the bull, The Game, of Brandon Gasper Bucking Bulls, and tamed him for 91 points, finishing third place in the round, but taking the event win.

“He (The Game) is from my hometown and I’ve seen him a ton of times, but haven’t been able to get on him until now,” Nance continued.  “Brandon Gasper (the owner) told me that I’d have to wait until the big show to try him out and thank God I got the opportunity to pick him.”

Taking second place in Columbus was Dustin Elliott (North Platte, Neb.) who scored a total of 263 points.  This was Elliott’s highest finish of the 2009 season and he collected a check for $15,714.  2008 PBR World Champion and the no. 2 rider in the world Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) rode for a third place finish after totaling 261.25 points, adding $9,888 to his bank account.  Fourth place went to Oklahoma’s Austin Meier (Kinta, Okla.) who rode three bulls for 258.5 points and a check for $12,958 while “Mighty” Mike White (De Kalb, Texas) rounded out fifth place with 180.25 points and a check for $9,950.  This moved White to 44th in the Qualifier Standings, leaving him a little over $6,000 short of qualifying for the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals.  He has one regular season event left to do so.

The race for PBR’s million dollar title will take the top 40 bull riders in the world to Uncasville, Conn., for the 31st and final regular season stop on the prestigious BFTS tour.  PBR will buck into Mohegan Sun Casino on October 16-18 for the Mohegan Sun Invitational presented by Cooper Tires where the best bull riders and the toughest bulls in the country will be showcased.  Be sure to check www.pbrnow.com for upcoming cities, ticket information, and complete broadcast times.

INJURY REPORT:
Luke Snyder
(Raymore, Mo.) sprained his left shoulder.  He is competing, but will be getting an MRI this week for further evaluation.

Bryan Richardson (Dallas, Texas) sprained his shoulder and did not compete in Sunday’s performance.  He will be getting an MRI this week for further evaluation.

BEHIND THE CHUTES:
Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s “Ride with the Best” Bonus:

Due to his round two win at the GoDaddy.com Invitational, Austin Meier (Kinta, Okla.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Cooper Tires Invitational.  Meier made the eight second whistle on Mr. Teevy, owned by Crazy H Bucking Bulls; therefore, he took home the $5,000 bonus.

Mike White (De Kalb, Texas) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Columbus event.  White did not make the eight second whistle on the bull, Silver Wings; therefore, the stock contractor, D&H Cattle Company, collected the $5,000 bonus check.

As the winner of round two, Team Enterprise rider Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) will be eligible for the bonus during round one at the 31st BFTS stop in Uncasville, Conn.

Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus:
Cody Nance
(Paris, Tenn.) was in the lead going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and ultimately won the Cooper Tires Invitational and collected the $5,000 bonus.  The bonus will be $5,000 at the Mohegan Sun Invitational.  The bonus grows by $5,000 each week if it is not claimed. Once claimed, it returns to $5,000.

Ford F-150 Challenge:
As the Cooper Tires Invitational event winner, Cody Nance (Paris, Tenn.) has qualified for a chance to participate as a Ford F-150 Challenge contestant at the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals, against all other 2009 Built Ford Tough Series event winners who qualify for the Finals.  The Ford F-150 Challenge contestant who finishes the highest in the event aggregate during the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals will win $50,000 towards the purchase of a brand-new 2009 F-150 truck.

Salem NationaLease Bull of the Event:
The bull, Big Tex, owned by Dakota Rodeo/Clay Struve, earned Bull of the Event honors with a score of 47.25 points.  This honor is acknowledged by an award of $1,250 going to the top bull of each event as determined by the PBR judges’ bull score.

High-Marked Ride of the Event:
Mike White
(De Kalb, Texas) recorded the high-marked ride of the Cooper Tires Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, during the Built Ford Tough Championship Round after riding top bull, Apollo, owned by Box K Cattle, for 91.5 points.

Daisy Rookie of the Year Standings:
The 2009 Daisy Rookie of the Year race is getting too close to call and as of stop no. 31 on the BFTS tour, Tennessee cowboy Cody Nance (Paris, Tenn.) has extended his lead on “The Royal Solution” Skeeter Kingsolver (Mclouth, Kan.), Caleb Sanderson (Kissimmee, Fla.), young Aussie Pete Farley (Kempsey, AUS), and Elliott Jacoby (Fredericksburg, Texas).  A rider is considered a rookie in the year he debuts on the elite Built Ford Tough Series tour.  The Daisy Rookie is determined by the rider who has won the most money during the year at all PBR events including Challenger events, International events, BFTS events, and the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals.

bullridingisArt: I just gotta point out that last I heard, this deal was for some people who
like to discuss things. Sometimes they are controversial, sometimes the comments are negative,
sometimes they're positive. You wanna know WWJD. He'd want you to mind your business and if
you don't like someones comments, simply don't read them. You can kiss JB's butt all you want.
No one will give you a hard time for that. This deal isn't owned by you either.

I was trying to be nice and let you know that I was not talking about you. However, I see that you are incapable of reciprocal treatment. Regarding WWJD, it doesn't matter what I say, you will tear it apart and ridicule anything I say, which I can say, that is NOT WWJD or say. By the way, this is my sixth post, your last post is number 6. It seems, you post as much as I do, so maybe you think yu own these comment sections?

Webpbr: These blogs are not owned by you nor are they directed to you the majority of the time. It is such a shame you feel the constant need to always comment in such a negative way. If any JB fans speak in his favor we risk being ridiculed by you with your supreme wisdom and authority on everything. I ask you since you are a bible reader...WWJD and say? I believe he would ask for your silence towards others.
GOGOGOOOOOOO JB!! Win this weekend and win the world!!!!!!

JB is called the 'fans fvorite' for one reason HE IS!!! He has many fans that blog on for support and he has the dislikers that gripe. In comparison to the million of PBR fans/viewers the bloggers are few in number. The JB fan bloggers continue to remind the dislikers that no one is without guilt of throwing a 'fit'. It may be over disappointments or even someting as little as a dumb driver cutting you off in traffic. The fact is we all do it and if a camera was following us we would all have to eat our words about someone else's fits.
These riders are young and learning...just enjoy their unique personalities and watch them grow up.
Remember WWJD...Jesus would be patient, kinder, and never give up. He would also smile at this athletic wonder of man and beast. Go PBR!

Go JB! Win this weekend and win the world!!!!!!

Well slap my bottom. I can't believe JB threw a fit. Nothing has changed. The wheels in Colorado Springs have a hard time wondering why fans are hard on JB and do not care for him. THIS is the reason.

chadro, you are right. I have said before, the more "mainstream" the PBR becomes, the more the PBR will look like the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL. People have said that the PBR is different, which it has been. However, to become more popular, you have to do the things that will create more interest for the general public, not just bull riding fans. With this comes other changes and problems, such as not having a PBR paid writer writing stories. As (if) the PBR becomes more popular, you will see stories about riders and many will not be so flattering. There will be stories about jail time, fights, drunken tirades, drugs, domestic problems etc... that just the way it is.

If the PBR says they are different and they promote the sport as family friendly, then either keep the cameras out of the dressing area, or fine those that throw fits. One or the other.

Also, one of the definitions of "criticize" is "to evaluate". Those that say that people are just "griping", maybe that is the case. However, maybe some are trying to honestly evaluate the situation and give their opinion on that evaluation. Those that never criticize, or evaluate, may just not like conflict, or "want to stay postitive", but IMO, they are, what is called in other sports, a "homer". Someone that cheerleads for the "home team" no matter what that home team does, good or BAD. Nothing is perfect, including the PBR, writers, riders or other people commenting. Some of my comments have been with a sharp tongue, some with humor, some with candor, some with too may words. You may not agree with those words, but I can only speak for myself, those words are said with p!@#ion and honesty.

Thank you chadro. I agree with you. What about all the women who are almost completely nude
during prime time? What about all the cheerleaders for football? For that matter what about
all the nasty stories on the news every night that our children have heard?

As far as JB goes, mabey he didn't know the camera was wathcing him pitch a fit. He sure came
out fast and wanted to talk to the camera. I think mabey he realized he made a mistake, then
again mabey I'm wrong. (wouldn't be the first time, nor the last)

I'm not in to seein a dude nude either, but this is just another great sign of how big bull
riding and the PBR is getting. If it had been a basketball player or football or baseball
player, you wouldn't have heard a negative word and those are all "family sports" as well.

I am a JB Mauney fan.. He had his little spat in what was suppose to be a private place. Its the PBR's fault for letting the camera people invade that space.

And give me a break...JW was one of the worst to slam things around when he got bucked off..I have see it from a lot of cowboys..they are po'ed

It does not matter that they did not model nude, you have to by the nude magazine that exploits women to see their clothed bodies. If the PBR wants to say that this is a family sport, they need to quit having their athletes pose nude or pose in nume magazinies. They can't have it both ways!

PUEBLO, Colo. (July 18, 2008) - The average American does not have a reason to don country fashions every day like Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) and J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.), but that doesn’t mean they can’t look cowboy-cool in a sports coat with jeans. In Playboy magazine’s August issue (on newsstands and at www dot playboydigital dot com Friday, July 18) Fashion Director Joseph DeAcetis dresses Marchi and Mauney in jackets by Haspel ($525) and Isaia ($3,995) paired with their PBR jeans by Wranger ($40) in the fashion pictorial dubbed “Cowboy Up”.

This is from the PBR. JB and Guilherme didn't pose nude for this Playboy photo shoot.

Here's a video of the "Making of the Body" issue for ESPN magazine. I post it with a warning that it contains nudity. When I saw this it made the whole "Shane Proctor" picture work and it's kinda funny. ..... sorry can't post an HTML, so just go to YouTube and search, "Making of the ESPN Body Magazine.

Joan Simpson, have we met? I really enjoy your "peacemaker" posts. And I like it that we were in the same room waiting hopefully for Adriano to appear!

And to flytyingdiva: Great post! The human body is a glorious thing!

He wasn't nude he had his boots on. Wow we are all so perfect, never cheated on our spouse, never said a bad word.Never sinned. Bunch of hypocrites, who love to talk about everyone else. No one is without wrong doing in their life so quit shouting how righteous you all are, what a total joke. I thought it was an awesome photo. I have to laugh, the US is so up tight, get out and travel and see all the nude beaches. Why should we be that way. Did you have clothes on when you were born? Go to any Museum and they have nude everything everywhere. Get a grip.

    October 13, 2009
It was VERY inappropiate to put that NUDE picture on FAMILY TV. And Shane had the nerve to say it was "tastefully" done, how is posing but naked in front of a camera "tastefull"? I think he got what he deserved when the bull chased him down. I never had anything against him but he should NOT have done that. I don't like the male enhancement comercials they always show and I really didn't like this. J.B is my favorite rider and I hate he threw a fit because this year he has grown up so much and really matured but I think it was understandable considering how close this race is.

The PBR is an organization of riders with lots of different personalities and that's what make it so exciting. I think there are several categories: If you prefer the wilder free spirit type there are many to choose from and cheer for. If you prefer the mellow more Christian type there are plenty to choose from to become your favorite. There are also those that define both of these categories and can be a fan favorite. Or you can cheer for them all equally....your choice. None are better than the others and all make great bull riders. What's important is we respect all the riders and stop the ugly put downs against the ones you don't cheer for.
It may be free speech but if it seriously offends others you have (ethically) crossed the free speech line. And really whose to say all types don't live by the others way of life off camera and away from the microphone.
I will honestly say, JB's little fit did not offend me and as a whole it did not take center stage for any of the great things that happened for so many that night.
I agree...get over it and enjoy bullriding!!!! GoGoooooooJB! Win the World.

Joan Simpson: Just to clarify...I don't have a problem with Shane (or any other rider) taking off their shirt if they're so inclined (though I have no intention of ever purchasing a "Cowboy Hunks" calendar). I do have a problem with him removing the rest of his clothing, being photographed so, and then having said picture shown repeatedly and discussed at length during a PBR telecast. JW said on air that "there's a line, and we just crossed it." I fully agree.

    October 13, 2009
Every week the same bloggers griping. I have only watched the PBR going on 6 years and believe me, I have seen many a bull rider throw their bull rope and kick anything they can kick at that moment. Even JW has thrown a few fits, if you want to call it that.
If you have ever bought a PBR bull rider calander, you can certainly see who likes to take their shirt off, just an example, and who doesn't.
This is a sport with many different types of personalities. The riding by each rider, the bulls and the action and for the few that do get to go to the events, being able to meet the bull riders and actually talk to them and get their autographs is what makes this sport a fan favorite sport. What peeked my interest the most was the difficulty of the sport. I thought and still think that it is amazing to watch. Now with the caliber of bulls it has even stepped up the sport to be even more exciting.
We all have our favorites regardless of what anyone else has to say. This continual picking apart what someone else thinks is just not necessary.
We are in for a great final week-end and World Championship. Enjoy!

FlashOBlue - If you are going to say that a "Christian" rider said a bad word, but then not say who it was, then you shouldn't say it at all. I also think the difference is, if you askthat "Christian" rider, he would probably apoligize and say he should not have said it. JB doesn't seem to be sorry about the fit and thinks it is OK to do it (since JB did not apoligize when he was talking to Leah or JW). If I ever have the opportunity to talk to JB, I would be able to find out for myself, what he thinks, maybe in Vegas. Apparently, since you said you just laugh when JB throws fits, you think it is OK as well.

Also, not to get into a Bible study, but since you and someone else brought up the "He who is without sin cast the first stone". Jesus, in John 8:1-11, is not talking about judging. The scribes and Pharisees were trying to trick Jesus. Therefore they were hypocrites, because their motivation was not about the woman, but about Jesus himself. Also, He told the woman "Go and sin no more". Jesus forgave her of her sin, but did not excuse the sin.

The point is, since we are all sinners, we do things we should not do. The difference is, is the person truly sorry for what they did and will try and not do it again. I am not judging JB at all. I am only trying to say that be careful when you use scripture to make your point. I am far from perfect as well, but I am trying, everyday, to ask for forgiveness and sin no more.

For those that hate religous talk on here, I apoligize if I have offended you by posting this. I am sure I will get some negative comments, but oh well.

Joan Simpson--that was the event!!!!! You said, "I don't know if you were at the same meet and greet or not, at the Marriott in Greensboro. That was the first year for me to meet Adriano and I was determined to. He was in a shoot with Justin and I sent the girl that ran the show in to have him sign a PBR handkerchef for me, she came out with it signed. I was afraid I would miss him. He came running out at the end and kicked his chair out and signed autographs and posed for pictures."

I'm not going to name names, but one of the "Christian" cowboys shouted, "F-u-c-#." after a ride yesterday! I just laugh at JB when he throws those tantrums--he's had such a great 3 years: Rookie of the Yesr, thied, then second. The next step is naturally first, so when the judges called the slap he knew he was sinking and wouldn't make the short-go. I can say that I've been that angry at myself at times! This race is heated and emotional! So, when things don't go the way the riders had hoped let them blow off steam!

All's I can say is, "He who is without sin cast the first stone!"

    Go JB!!!!! Go Guilherme!!!!!

Wow. The comments about JB, Kody, etc. on this site are out of control. Get over it and enjoy the PBR. I am sure that none of you has lost your composure when you were under a lot of pressure and things didn't go well. You probably get just as upset as JB when you are watching your favorite NFL team on Sunday, or while you are stuck in traffic. Get over yourself. These are world cl!@# athletes that don't need to be picked apart by the so-called "fans" of the sport.

What a great event this weekend. I wish we could see a final pen like that every week. I can't wait to see JB, Kody, and Guillerme go head to head with Big Tex, I'm a Uncle Buck Gangster, Code Blue, and Bones. It is going to be one hell of a Finals in Vegas. Hope the race for the buckle goes down to the last two days so I can see it live.

Gotta agree with TWTX and SL regarding the nude photo and the inappropriate commercials. The least they could have done was warn us they were going to show the photo so we could have turned it off. My children do not need to see this or the viagra commercials; they watch the PBR to enjoy the riders, bulls etc. That being said, it was a great event - nice to see plenty of rides in each round.

Mofan - To answer your question on Playboy/PBR. I googled and found that in June 08, PBR made an announcement through the web that Marchi and JB were going to be in Aug 08 issue of Playboy. Fortunately they were both clothed and the issue was to show how you can dress up, even if you are a cowboy (I think one of the jackets was $3000, don't know many "cowboys" wearing that kind of jacket)

Also, while I was googling, came across an announcement in 2005 from the PBR about Dish discontinuing OLN/VERSUS part of the announcement read "Dish Network's sudden decision to pull OLN from its line up stems from a dispute between EchoStar and OLN regarding OLN's placement in a higher-priced channel package by Dish Network which is distributed to fewer viewers.

In the meantime, the most important thing that fans can do to rectify this situation is to consider an alternative cable provider. The PBR is encouraging fans to contact DirecTV or their local cable provider in order to get a package that includes the PBR on OLN."

Sound familiar? Has anyone found out that since Dish is now the "exclusive saltellite provider", does that mean they just get some advertising, or does it mean that even if DirecTV and VERSUS work this out, Dish will be the only one to carry the PBR on VERSUS for the next 18 months (Dish and PBR agreement is 18 months)?

JB sounds like a cry baby to me. If cameras followed him somewhere and he acted stupid, then
he aint no cowboy and he needs to learn some manners. Take a note from the real bad!@#es like

For all those of you who are worrying if JB is gonna win it or not???? Worry no more. He's not. Its
gonna be either Kody or Marchi. He's gotten so caught up in the hipe. It won't happen. The
only great bull riders from NC are Jerome Davis and Brian Canter!

The rule states that you cannot touch with the free arm any part of the bull, self(hat, wrap)anyime during the 8 seconds. As a teacher of bull riding I do know if JB was in position, he would have not touched the bull, horn, or anything else. JB was out of position pulling and reaching forward in order to catch up on the timing of the bull. as the bull "Jammed up"( ran out of room and or bucked in place) JB was slid back on his pockets causing him to run back to the flank causing this situation. JB was wrong, A Slap is a Slap, The rules are there for the controlled rider. Mauney was safeting up in order to make the 8, since it was that close. JB also has a problem of cracking under pressure. It is almost time for the finals and JB is once again trying to hard to capitalize on the situation, when all he needs to do is relax, cut the shinanigans and ride like it was the beginning of the season. Kody L has it figured and Kody Nance has the maturity to be a world champ, until Mauney figures it out I do not believe him to win the world. Adriano was bad about acting like a brat, when he figured it out and maturity came look what he did, 3 time world champ, Chris Shivers was a spoiled brat, and when he matured...... 2 time champ. Mauney needs to mature, until then he will be a number 2 or 3 guy.

3 Hours agoI believe Kody will win the world title, Kody has the Grit. JB still acts as if he is 5 years old, throwing and destroying PBR property, and showing how immature he is. I have been ih position to win big events and never have acted like that nor will I ever act like that. JB has a long way to go. another thing he needs to learn to keep his mouth shut about calls from the PBR officials, Mauney clearly slapped the bull , If JB was in position he would never would have his free arm that low. JB is a great rider, but until he matures, JB was whinning about a call which has gotten other guys in trouble at the finals. Marchi lost the world title because of the same thing. touching the bull with the free ARM. Marchi is not going to win the world , because he dosen't crave it, Kody keeps reaching deep, and I am sure Gary Leffew will be there at the finals and will help Kody correct his problems right away if any arises. I believe If Kody dosen't get hurt , he will win. And I believe Cody Nance or LJ jenkins will win the finals

I never thought about this SL, you are so right..the commericials are very disturbing and very hard to explain to young children. Actually, they're hard to stomach by adults. They are disgusting..guess we just get used to them or have blocked them out.
It really doesn't justify showing us the nude photo of Shane two times and then giving a interview.
Like I said, too much information for most of us.

I'm much more offended by the Bob/Viagra/Extenze commercials than Shane's photo, but I am surprised that they showed us the picture as opposed to just telling us about it. I knew there'd be issues when it is plugged as "family viewing".

JB's fit took me by surprise only in that we haven't seen that from him all year. In spite of it, though, I'm still seeing a maturity in him that I haven't seen before.

Congratulations to Cody! He's definitely one to watch in Vegas.

As a Marchi fan, I'm still ok with any of the top three winning in Vegas--they've made it a great year to watch.

It does seem to be the same song, same dance, same supporters, the same 'dislikers' everytime, every week making positive or negative comments toward JB. And here we all are again.

JB can and will turn this unfortunate ride into high positive energy and it will add the fuel to his hot fire to win the World Championship. This may be exactly what he needs to get tougher and fight harder to win this race.
I don't believe his fit was anything compared to the Brandon Clark fit at the World Cup in Brazil. And it was caught on camera in the locker room. No one said a word about it which was fine with me because I can understand the frustration that must be released or internalized. Believe me it is much healthier to release. It does need to be kept off camera. Or maybe some are right when they say it's publicity for PBR and viewers get pumped by this. Either way, I don't care..I just love to watch great bull riders and great bulls. We see this every broadcast of the PBR.
I completely agree with the nude pictures of Shane being out of line. Way to much information for this lady and I was sorry they gave an interview on this topic. YUCK!!!
GoGo JB!!!! Win this week end and win the world!!!!!!

I remember last year, I believe, the PBR had some of the guys do a photoshoot with Playboyor some other nude mmagazine. I thought that was wrong as well. They can't have it both ways - a family sport - and then have the cowboys pose nude in two different magazines. I remember that the PBR was supporative of the Playboy or girl layout. If I remember correctly it was JB, Marchi and someone else. Does anyone else remember that as well? I complained as I am sure others did as well and it went away off the website.

There have been a few comments on here about the picture that was shown of Shane.
I am not trying to say anything bad about Shane, because he is an adult and he has
the choice to do this photo shoot if he wants, as does those that choose to buy
the magazine. However, I think the viewer of a PBR event should also have the choice
of whether or not they want to see it. I do not feel that it was appropriate to
show a nude picture on the PBR telecast. I have been encouraging friends to check
out the PBR and one of the things I tell them is that it is a "family friendly sport".
Well, I do not feel that picture falls under that description. I do not know if
this is the kind of "exposure" (no pun intended) that the PBR wants or not, but I
for one think that it was a bad decision.

FlashOBlue I don't know if you were at the same meet and greet or not, at the Marriott in Greensboro. That was the first year for me to meet Adriano and I was determined to. He was in a shoot with Justin and I sent the girl that ran the show in to have him sign a PBR handkerchef for me, she came out with it signed. I was afraid I would miss him. He came running out at the end and kicked his chair out and signed autographs and posed for pictures.
Sorry guys to get off of the subject.
A slap is a slap. I have seen it happen so many times when it is so crucial. Some of the worse behavior used to be done by Chris Shivers and now he has mellowed out, but he has not been the only one and until I am in their boots, I am not here to criticize anyone.
Cody Nance has just shown everyone how good he really is and he is already looking forward to next year. It just shows you the desire and the great time he is having riding in the PBR and I am so proud of Mike White and Guilherme had such hard bulls to ride with the stutter step and belly rolls, most bull riders buck off. He toughed it out.

JB knew he touched the bull, and said he knew. He just thought he touched the "floppy horn", and he was mad that they called him on that. As it turns out, after JW pointed it out, JB actually touched the top of the bulls head, with his wrist and upper forearm. The main point is that JB thought it was a "stupid" call and went off. Not only did he go off, he came back out, complained to some people, then complained to Leah. This was a call that did not go his way, and he lost it. For those that are JB fans, please stop making excuses for his behavior. "that is just his nature", "the cameras should not have followed", "it was hard for him to swallow", "he just wears his emotions on his sleeve", "shouldn't judge others". Just admit that he behaved badly and you are still going to support him and go on.

Remember, LJ? He lost 2 events on suspect calls. You didn't see seem complaining to the judges or the media on him getting a raw deal. Kody knew he touched the bull, just like JB knew, but they handled it differently. By the way, the cameras followed Kody all the way to the dressing area last week (Portland). He had just gotten bucked off in round 2 and he was upset, and they followed him all the way. However, even with being upset, he did not yell, curse, throw things or anything else. He just went about taking his gear off. Cody Nance was called for having a spur infraction, last weekend (Portland), which may have cost him the win. He was upset, but did not have a mealtdown. Some people are just better at "contolling" their emotions.

Regarding the cameras going all the way into the dressing area, they are there just about every week. Why does the PBR/VERSUS send cameras back there? To see if someone will explode. The media, tv and newspapers want drama, strife, fighting, and mental mealtdowns. It makes for good tv and it sells newspapers. If you noticed, when CBS started their PBR broadcast, last Sunday, they started the show with bull riding wreaks. It gets the general public interested and pumped up for something bad to happen. The general public wants wreaks, and blood. I was that way too, before I became a PBR fan.

petstylist: Can't remember a judge ruling that the bull hit the rider's arm instead of vice versa, but my memory may well be faulty. And I agree that Guilherme dealt with his disappointment earlier this season better than JB did this past weekend (so did Kody, for that matter).
  • petstylist
    October 12, 2009
I was just saying Guilherme showed far more cl-a-s-s than JB did in this case; he was mad and showed it, but handled it much better. JB's gotten a couple huge gimmes season and felt entitled to yet another. In fact, if I remember right, either he or Justin McBride did get a call like that handed to them where the judge ruled that rather than them touching the bull, the bull came up and hit his hand with his head (or hump or something). In that case, Guilherme could have easily said Just a Dream hit his arm/sleeve with his hump rather than Guilherme hitting him.

Sportsmanship is sportsmanship, there are some great riders in PBR that have maturity and
there are some that don't. I belive that the judges called it as they saw it and that is the
way it is suppose to be, right or wrong it is what you see at the time.
As a retired bullrider and a judge I could not believe that Proctor would allow himself to
be photographed almost nude(he had his boots on) and PBR showing it on what is suppose to be
a family event. I wouldn't think that PBR would want that kind of publicity.
  • Shannon K
    October 12, 2009
petstylist: Not sure I understand your argument about Guilherme. If his shirt sleeve touched the bull, then didn't he touch the bull? To my knowledge there's no rule about touching with bare skin vs. clothing, and it's not as if he wears billowy shirts so that his sleeve could have touched the bull while his arm was still a few inches away. Is there something about the rules that I'm missing? I do agree that he showed good humor when the judge pointed out the bull hairs on his sleeve!

And more important than the JB stuff--CONGRATULATIONS to Cody on his second BFTS win; he truly seems like a great kid, and I like how he wears his emotions on his sleeve without being an @$$ about it when things don't go his way! Since this was showed in tape delay I will agree they handled the JB situation wrong with TV. Judge 4 apparently called for a review of the ride before he scored it because he thought he saw a slap and wanted clarification. A rider who feels he was wronged can ring for review, another rider can challenge a call if he feels he saw something not right or a judge can ask for a review of a ride. The other judges apparently did not have the same view as judge 4 did so they did what they were supposed to do and scored the ride. Judge 4 did not and they cut to commercial. It should have been brought out in the broadcast what was going on. JB also said the bulls horn touched his hand so why the hissy fit backstage? He knew he should have been DQ'd.

    October 12, 2009
Flashoblue, the rider that was called for a slap w/ the bull's tail was Renato. It was actually the tips of his fingers touching the long hairs on the end of the bull's tail when the bull whipped it up. Renato handled it with cl-a-s-s (seriously, the @$$ filters need to be loosened just a bit), although he seemed a bit confused by the call--and rightfully so. Guilherme has been s-c-rewed over a couple times when his shirt sleeve grazed the bull's hump (once at the 06 Finals and again this season when he rode I'm a Crook in Oklahoma City). Yes, he was mad in OK City, but he ended up smiling about it when the judge explained that it was his shirt sleeve. Again, a much cl-a-s-sier man in handling disappointment.

I was giving JB credit for a much-improved attitude on buck offs, but he took a big step backward this weekend. He's gotten a couple gimmes and this time it didn't go his way. Kody is by far the better man in this case.

Just had to add that at that first meet & greet, I had met LeeAnn Hart the evening before. After almost 2 hours when some of the riders were leaving, I left, too, and met LeeAnn outside the hotel. She asked how it was and I told her about JW, Adriano, and Justin not being there. She said, "I just talked to JW and he's on his way to the ballroom." So, I turned around and went back and sure enought there was JW and Justin! When the room was almost cleared out Adriano came in (exhausted), flopped into his !@#igned chair and was literally mobbed by about 100 fans!

When I attended my first Meet & Greet, I couldn't wait to meet Adriano, but when I got there he wasn't there. Adriano, JW Hart, and Justin McBride had been scheduled to do some special promo! The PBR people said that things like this happen. So before you go ragging on JB, maybe you should find out if the PBR scheduled him some place else! Since then I have been to many meet & greets and JB has always been there--I have pictured to prove it!

I thought I saw several "slaps" in both rounds and the short-go that were "missed" by the judges. One by Mike White. Remember when someone (Valderon?)got called for a slap when the tail of the bull hit the rider's back?

As someone who is new to bullriding, I am learning alot each week but I do have a question I hope someone can answer for me: Why do some bulls have "floppy" horns? and what makes them that way? Obviously the "floppiness" played a big part in JB's DQ! My thanks to anyone who can explain this to me.

If they followed every bull rider into the dressing room after a buck off, I would guarantee you would see a lot of emotion and frustration shown. There are many more that showed there frustraiton. When you try so hard to accomplish a good ride at this pont in the game as it is so important for the top 3 riders, it will get frustrating.
I knew when JB walked away so fast, I thought something happened. The TV cut to a commercial and then it cut back to them following him in the dressing room. That is so wrong. They never followed KOdy or any other rider directly into the dressing room.
A slap is a slap and I never saw it until they replayed the ride.
JB is an excellent rider and this will only fuel the fire in him to win the World Championship.

I guess I have been told. I never said Matt Bohon wasn't a great guy. I was talking about riders like Cord McCoy, Beau Hill and even LJ Jenkins that have been cut at one time or another.
They are also great guys. As a matter of fact, at the Reno event 39 of the 40 riders came to
the pre-event Fan Zone. They were ALL wonderful to us. I found Matt Bohon to be one of the
nices young men there, so this has nothing to do with him personally only his ability to stay
on tour when others are cut.
Just in case you are wondering who the 40th rider was that was too busy to meet & greet the

I wouldn't exactly call the way Kody and Marchi are riding, a "slump." Plus I think calling
anything a "slump" is a bunch of crap. If a guy isn't riding good, he just needs to pull his head

First things first, J.B. is an excellent bull rider, and an excellent guy. He just has the habit of wearing his emotions on his sleeve. The cameras DO NOT belong in the back with the guys, if it was you would you want them there? I wouldn't. There are lots of young aspiring bull riders out there who are gonna act like their favorites no matter what they act like. Good or bad, it doesn't matter if they get frustrated and throw things, J.B. has never hit anyone with his rope just the wall and frankly thats fine with me.
As for the Matt Bohon comment, Matt is trying his best. He's just in a MAJOR slump. He will eventually get his way worked out of it like most of them do. Call me crazy for sticking with my Missouri boy but honestly Matt just like the rest of them they are good guys. When the top riders are in a slump no one mentions it, except for J.B., but when Kody or Marchi fall into a slump they don't want to talk about it. Matt's slump has been a long one yes, but that doesn't make him any less of a bull rider because of it.

There was a big difference in the two slaps, Kody knew at once he did not get a score, J.B.
on the other hand had scores being posted and they were good scores and then to have it
taken away was a hard blow. Yes he was frustrated who wouldn't be after being so close and
perhaps having victory taken from out of your hands. J.B. is a fair person if he had slapped
the bull he would have known it and he would know he deserved the call, however, what was it,
the horn hit his arm? Well this is like any sport, sometimes you agree with the calls
sometimes you don't, sometimes it doesn't matter much and then sometimes it matters a whole lot. In this instance it mattered a whole lot. J.B. didn't hit the bull he didn't hit anyone
he just banged his rope around in what he thought was a private moment. People are all
different, these two men you are reffering to certainly are, winning or losing, but both are
    still great guys. Go J.B.!

He is the !@#$ies pick every week, never rides, and how is he staying on tour? We all have
seen the riders at the botton (35-40) struggle to stay on tour, but for some reason Bohon never
gets cut. He is riding at 29.2%. This is the second year with the same results. This last

    You'lll do it!!Win the world!!!!

I agree with the camera needing to stay out of the private areas of the riders. You would think the PBR and Versus would want to show the national viewers the positive moments of the riders celebrating instead of sneaking around behind the scenes and looking for anything negative to broadcast.
I do think the riders deserve the right to privacy without cameras in their face. JB had every reason to be disappointed and it his nature to show emotion. It does not make him a bad person..he's a great rider and a great guy. Yes, we are proud of JB!

congratulations to cody you had a great weekend for the win. JB's ride in the second round is truely unfortunate for him, instead of making a significant move forward in the standings he's now 1200 points behind and that sucks. I can truely appreciate his disapointment, I ride bulls and most of my friends ride bulls, a call like that is always iffy and usually costs something major. I've been called a time or two for slaps that i thought never should have been called and good friend of mine lost out on a year end saddle because a watusi threw his head back and hit his free hand with a horn. I'm not sure what needs to be done in terms of the rules but in this situation i don't think the call was right, oh well just my opinion. and on a second note i've got a sneaking suspicion that there are gonna be a bunch of comments posted on here once again bad mouthing jb over the fact that he was upset about the call and was interviewed because of it. If it was kody or marchi i guarantee you they would have been just as upset and they would have gotten interviewed also. I think its rediculous for people to get on here and go off the deep end ridiculing judges and riders in particular one rider. I've read comments on how JB is a brat a jerk spoiled favored by judges and the list goes on and on. I'm not a church going man but i do remember something along the lines of "LET HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE". Befor you go and start slingin stones at JB for getting mad after a buck off or anything for that matter, why don't you step back and take a look at yourself. If you've never been guilty of anything, then by all means cast your stones, but I seriously doubt theres anybody out there with a clean slate. Good luck to all the guys heading into the next event and the finals.

It was wrong that JB didnt get a score. If thats the case they need to cut all horns off and tiethe the tail because the tails have hit some of the cowboys. The pbr must be paying the judges.

I just saw the event on T.V. and it sure looked like J.B. rode that bull, three out of four
judges had given him a score, after waiting through a commerical, they go back and we found
out J.B. did not get the score after all, said he slaped the bull. Apparently a score could
have easily been given to him since three out of the four judges did not see it, but it wasn't.
This should end any thoughts that the judges "give" him special treatment. It was really a
very important call against J.B, he lost ground in the standings.
I know he would not want something he did not earn, but this was hard to swallow because it
was not an obvious slap and he thought he had made a good ride, you would have too if you'd
seen your scores being posted. I do not like the camera team following the riders to the
dressing rooms, don't they deserve some privacy? Go J.B., it's not over yet.

FYI: If you go to the event page and then on the left hand side you'll see a tab labeled "Event Center." Click that you can watch real time stats, read my live commentary and then later that night listen to various Podcasts recorded that night. And, at the same time, they will still be Tweeting as well.

This info was from Keith. Thank you for the info!

Thank you to whom ever got the Twitter back like it used to be. I am so thankful to get the sunday results in "real time" and all the results were current - not like last night. Thanks for all of the DTV people.
