PBR Nation comes through!

Your support has won hearts and minds in both Baltimore and Houston

New York, NY (October 1, 2009) - The support and activism of PBR fans nationwide has ensured that fans in both Baltimore and Houston will be able to watch the PBR on CBS this Sunday, Oct. 4.

The Championship Round of the GoDaddy.com Invitational will be televised on KHOU in Houston from 4-5 p.m. KHOU promptly and professionally reaffirmed their support for the PBR, and assures fans that they will be carrying future events broadcast on CBS.

Because of previous local contractual obligations, WJZ in Baltimore will not be able to show the event until 2:30 a.m. The PBR appreciates the need to honor those obligations, and thanks WJZ for doing what they can. We hope that our fans’ reaction will help keep the PBR a priority in their future programming decisions.

The PBR thanks you for your incredible support.

I don't know how many people called the Houston station but I got home from a trip today and had a message from the Houston CBS station. I had left them a message on Thursday and wasn't able to hear their reply till today.

The lady (Lisa S) thanked me and !@#ured me they would be showing the PBR this week and in the following weeks as scheduled.

Also, she said that if she ever needed anything done she would call on these fans cause they are very vocal and get things done. Hope the other stations will follow suit and show the remaining shows that are scheduled.

I would be nice if Versus could show the live short go and then CBS rebroadcast the folowing day.

Just when you think the world has accepted cowboys and their sports, it happens again! I actually got to watch the PBR on CBS, surprisingly enough, the locals didn't substitute it with the "magi shammy" infommercial like they have every other time including the PRCA Tour finales! I just wish I had the $$$ that is being spent to share the PBR/Rodeo w/the rest of the world. I still understand the need to continue to try and draw in new viewers, BUT everytime the PBR "officials" make the attempt to reach out, it gets $hi++ canned by some commercial programming?? I still say both PRCA and the PBR need to get better bargaining power if they are going to go mainstream. The issue w/ Dish and now Direct three yrs later should have been a wake up call to somebody in Colorado. Its just the same old story, different year. Maybe we should accept the 15+ million viewers as almost good enough and roll with it. Take care of who got you there?!

this whole CBS thing was a bad idea from the git. Here in the SF bay area we had the Raider game and the after the Raider game bla bla bla.Instaed of starting the pbr from the start thy picked it up in progress , Willeys ride. Then after the pbr they went to paid programming . The whole thing sucked. I hope all this nonsense stops and we get back to the 2 hrs 2 days on versus and let the direct tv thing iron itself out, and it will , I hope before the finals. So as i said 2 days ago i new it sucked, and i stand by that.

As a Directv customer I was glad to be able to watch my sport on TV again. One hour was better than nothing, and is a goog beginning, and one more reason for PBR to dump VS next time arround. It will get better with time. One note to PBR,"DO NOT LET ANYBODY TO HOLD YOU,PBR,AND US,THE FANS,HOSTAGES ANYMORE IN THE FUTURE".Have your lawyers make sure this Directv/VS disgrace never happen again. In this bad Economy many try to take advantage of us the common person, the customer, but we remember those for when the things get better and let them know we don't need their services any longer.Let this be a message for Directv, and Versus ,and anybody else outhere who is triyng to squeese more money out of us as they see we have no other option.I will be patient and wait for PBR to work this deal out with onother TV channel.Cowboyup folks.

CBS - What a joke. Infomercials here in Mooresville, NC. It would have been nice to see Shane win here in his new hometown but instead it was paid advertising junk. Hope that the final round event could at least be uploaded to the website so we could at least watch it that way. I don't even want to think about how bad CBS will screw up the upcoming finals!

Any one that is receiving any kind of bullriding programing - be thankful - no versus, no CBS, noI I am able to get RFD and their new PBR Now show but that is it. I miss the bullriding. No point in CBS saying they will show an event when they don't follow through and have the affilite stations put them on. Who watchs Paid Programing anyway? No one that I know of.

birdog11: Thanks for the clarification. I'm with you in thinking that a major network (ESPN, CBS, NBC, etc.) would not regularly give the PBR two hour coverage blocks during prime time on weekends...though I'd be happy to be proved wrong. I hope you were able to see the coverage tonight!

shannon k it is still not confirmed that Versus in my area, the San Francisco area, will be carrying the 1st round tonight. Im just going to turn Versus on and see. However my point is if anyone thinks well get as much total coverage, 2 hour , 2 days, on any other sports network I think there wrong . Im happy with the way things are, I love Mgcee and Hummer. I think the Direct TV v comcast will be clecleared up soon because the NHL is not happy and neither is the NCAA collage football.

Although RFD-TV is listed on the first tier of DIRECTV's channel guide, we get a message that says "Channel not purchased". I called DIRECTV to find out what the deal is, and was told that we have a local PBS channel (which is not carrying the Thursday noon segment with the Justin's and JW,and consequently we do not have access to RFD. Does this make sense to anyone? They told me that if I want to apply for a waiver, they will consider letting me have RFD, for an additional $2.50 per month, but it would take about two months for them to process my request. When their reason for not longer carrying VERSUS is that they don't want to increase their subscribers' fee, I just don't understand .... I'm paying for RFD but can't get it. I previously supported DIRECTV's stand, but no longer.

My cable guide does not show PBR on Versus tonight. I hope they just have
not updated it. Otherwise I will not get to see it tonight. I would think
that it is up to Versus what they show, not the individual cable provider.

birdog11: Normally, on Versus, we get a 2-hour broadcast of Round 1 and a 2-hour broadcast that covers Round 2 and the Short Go. This weekend, we're getting Round 1 live (so we'll see every ride), 1.5 hours of Round 2 (which is slightly more than it usually gets when its coverage is combined with the Short Go), and a 1-hour broadcast of the Short Go. So instead of our normal 4 hours of coverage, we're getting 4.5. To me, this sounds like a better deal. Am I missing something?

Have any of you DTV subscribers seen the commercial that the NHL is running that has two purposes? 1. to promote the new season of hockey, carried on Versus and 2. at the mention of versus the NHL reminds viewers of the dispute and adds contact information encouraging their fans to call DTV and complain.

I was a little surprised to see that Directv is airing the commercial since the NHL clearly puts the issue in DTV's court. But what a good idea by the NHL.

so, all you people that want Versus gone, how do you like one hour instead of 2. I think it stinks, and I wish it was being covered by good old 2 hour show on versus.W e viewers have it sweet , 2 hours sat, 2 hours sun. I want it to stay this way and it wont if it goes to any other network even ESPN.Im pissed, i want my 2 hours back.

As soon as I heard that Houston was not showing the broadcast I called and emailed. I live there so a big thanks to anyone outside the area that called. I hope that CBS now knows that we will be a audience they can count on.

cowgirlupdeb: Yay, another Seattle PBR fan! I just checked the KIRO website, and they have bull riding listed as coming on at noon Sunday. I'll have to record it, since I won't be home from church by then, but I'm excited about watching!

KIRO, the CBS affiliate in Seattle, WA also does not have PBR listed for Sunday neither on the program guide nor on their web site. I have e-mailed them to request they show PBR.

****My email response from the Houston Station*****

Please note we are carrying the Professional Bull Riders Series that begins this Sunday. While our current listings reflect paid programming in that timeslot, we are carrying this week’s finals and the rest of the series. We are correcting our listings and would appreciate your help in getting the word out.

    Thanks! Lisa
