COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 3, 2005) -

2000 and 2003 PBR World Champion Chris Shivers (Jonesville, La.) suffered a severe concussion during Built Ford Tough Championship Round action on Sunday, October 2 during the Laughlin Invitational. Shivers was transported to an area hospital for further evaluation. Results of Shivers’ CAT scans were negative and he was released from the hospital at 1 a.m. pacific time. At this time Shivers is questionable to compete in the Built Ford Tough Series event in Columbus, Ohio on October 15-16. There were no other injuries in association with the concussion and Shivers will compete at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals, October 28-30 and November 3-6, 2005.

Shivers was kicked in the head by Mike Solomon’s bull Ditto following a successful ride which yielded 87.5 points. Shivers was immediately transported to the hospital where he regained consciousness but was kept for observation. At the age of only 26, Shivers is on the way to positioning himself to win an unprecedented third Built Ford Tough World Championship, currently trailing world standings leader Justin McBride (Elk City, Okla. ) by 2,170 series points. Hip and shoulder surgeries kept Shivers out of competition for nearly six months during 2004; however 2005 has given the PBR sensation another opportunity to prove that he is among the sport’s legendary competitors.
