DENVER, Colo. (January 12, 2005) - With three exceptional scores of over 90 points it was Chris Shivers (Jonesville, La.) who left the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) sanctioned Denver Chute-Out U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Challenger Tour event with the lyon's share of the $64,000 payout. The two-time PBR World Champion was sidelined by a combination of injuries during the bulk of the 2004 PBR season, but is back with a vengeance in 2005 and hungry for an unprecedented third world championship. The popular Challenger Tour competition takes place annually at the National Western Stock Show Coliseum.

Shivers captured top honors in the preliminary go round with a 91 point score aboard Paul Mendell's Pistol Pete. He then topped the bull Powder Keg for 91.5 points to win round two. In the final round, which featured the top 15 riders from the first two rounds, he scored 90.5 points on Red Heat. Each go round win was worth $2,548 and another $14,712 was awarded to Shivers for dominating the average with 273 points on three bulls. Shivers earnings from the event totaled $22,354.

Winning second was a Brazilian bull rider currently residing in Keller, Texas. Rogerio Ferreira rode two bulls for 177 points. He also placed second in the first round and tied for third in the second round. The $13,201 earned by Ferreira in Denver will help him regain a position on the elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) tour.

PBR bull riders are traveling from Denver to Pueblo's State Fair Coliseum to compete in the next stop on the Challenger Tour schedule which takes place on Thursday evening, January 13th.
