Ty Murray is the greatest all-around cowboy who ever lived. His seven PRCA all-around titles, two PRCA bull riding championships, and a remarkable career in the PBR earned him the moniker “King of the Cowboys.”  The former PBR president continues his deep involvement in the organization he helped found.

I'll post my first Podcast from the Finals on Friday

Hey there everybody.

I was glad to hear everyone liked our CBS special this past weekend. I've been getting things in order here at the ranch before I head out to Las Vegas later this week.

I'll hold back some of my thoughts in hopes that you'll log onto the site and listen to my "Final Word" podcast that I'll be recording every day.

Take care, and I'll post my first Podcast from the Finals on Friday.

'It’s probably one of the greatest races the PBR has ever seen'

The wreck involving Ryan Dirteater was horrible.

But what's starting to become a problem is that more and more guys are getting their spurs hung up in their bull ropes.

With all the storylines still playing out it’s an exciting time to be part of the broadcast

Hello cowboy nation.

I was looking over some interesting stats this morning and it looks to me like the health of the talent pool in the PBR is really good.

‘These guys can’t afford to squander any opportunities’

Hello again everyone.

We had an interesting weekend in Portland. As a fan, when things start coming down to the wire it gets exciting to watch and you even see the riders start to understand more and more what's at stake as the season starts to wind down.

'I can’t wait to get to Portland to see what happens next'

Hey everyone!

I'm looking forward to this weekend. I'll be in the television booth this weekend at the GoDaddy.com Invitational in Portland. I haven't been in the booth for a while, so I'm looking forward to it.

‘Every world title is hard fought if you’re the guy attaining them’

Hello everyone.

It looks like Springfield made the "Road to Vegas" all that much more interesting for all of us who are watching.

Looking at the battle we have going between Guilherme Marchi, J.B. Mauney and Kody Lostroh, it's really a test between them and sometimes, I think, we forget how great Marchi is and what a great year he's having simply because of who he is.

‘We’ve always put the integrity of the competition first’

Hey everyone.

I've been reading a lot of the comments on the Internet and I find it interesting that it seems like every year some fans will route against whoever is battling for a World Championship, and that's fine. I think everyone should have a rider they want to win or even one they hope doesn't win the title, but it puzzles me when people question the integrity of our sport.

‘Now we’re really getting down to the fun part of the season’

Hello again cowboy nation.

Things have been exciting, but now we're really getting down to the fun part of the season with a six-week, nonstop "Road to Vegas."

I've talked before, in previous blogs, about how important it is when you're any kind of professional athlete that you need to have your major goal. In the case of Kody Lostroh, Guilherme Marchi and J.B. Mauney their major goal is to win a World Championship, and they are definitely battling it out.

But it's important to make sure you're also focused on the moment.

What I mean by that is if you're an NFL football team that wants to win the Super Bowl you have to be thinking about the first kickoff of the first game and then you have to be thinking about the first play from scrimmage. Then you have to be thinking about the second play and so on and so forth.

It's important to take advantage of every moment of every chance you get for all it's worth every step of the way because it can literally come down to a few points that decides who wins and who loses.

One year I won a world title by 95 points. I could have just as easily lost it by 95 points and then looked back throughout the year and came up with 1,000 moments where I might have lost that championship. But, as it turns out, I can look back on a 1,000 moments where I won that World Championship.

It really is fun for me to watch how different athletes handle an entire season.

Right now these guys have to be focused on their first bull in Reno because, at this point, that's all that matters. Then you move on to the next bull, but on some of the rank bulls you can even break the moment down to jump by jump because you have to get past the first jump to get to the second one.

The dynamic of the season is going to change now that everybody can see the light at the end of the tunnel. They know they only have six weeks and that sense of urgency is starting to set in, so for me it's interesting to watch how they all handle it.

I think this is going to be one of the most exciting finishes that we've ever had because we have three great bull riders who are trading places, switching back and forth in the standings and they're all within striking distance of one another.

Kody, Guilherme and J.B. all seem to be riding at the top of their game so this is going to be a dog fight.

This is how you decide a true World Champion because they will be tested in every way. They've been getting on rank bulls all season and now they have to continue that for six more events and on through a PBR World Finals, which is the ultimate test for a professional bull rider.

At the Finals you're on the biggest stage, under the brightest lights and getting on the rankest bulls in the world and going up against the best riders over the course of eight rounds.

It not only takes a toll on you physically, but the mental game and the pressure these three guys are going to face from here on out is something you can only understand if you've been in that position. And, let me tell you firsthand, it can get intense and it can feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders while you're trying to do one of the most exhilarating, scary and dangerous sports in the world.

So lets all sit back and enjoy this race.

‘I’ve got to take my hat off to those relatively young guys’

Wow! What an exciting World Cup.

I talked to Randy Bernard, CEO of the PBR, about four or five times a day while he was down there for the event. There were times the excitement got so intense that he would call me and have me just listen to it through the phone.

‘The World Cup is the best of the best’

Hey everybody.

I just got back from Alaska and when I logged onto the Web site it was pretty interesting to see all of the controversy and jibber-jabber regarding the World Cup. I think it shows how much it's grown in just three years time.
