‘I’m well on my way’

This weekend I'm headed down the road to Victoria, Texas to a Discovery tour event and then I'll catch a flight back up to Canada for another Rocky Cup event. Lately I've just been trying to work my way back on to the Built Ford Tough Series.

It's been going almost as planned and I've been winning money. I had hoped to be back by now, but I'm well on my way. Another good weekend should put me over the top and back on the BFTS.

What's amazing to me is that everybody who got cut the first time – me, Colby Yates and Harve Stewart – we've been traveling together a lot, but it's just in the past couple of weeks that we all got that fire back that we lost.

You can feel it when you're riding in the vehicle with one another and you can see it at the events when we're getting on our bulls. We're just now getting over the depression of getting cut from the tour.

First and foremost we're bull riders and that's what we do whether we're at a BFTS, Challenger tour, Enterprise tour or a Discovery tour event. It doesn't matter to us where we're at and it's pretty cool because everybody's on fire and keeping each other built up at the same time.

I think everybody will be back.

I know Clayton Williams got hurt last week, up in Canada, so he'll be out for a while. I don't know about L.J. Jenkins and Kolt Donaldson yet, it might take them a few weeks to get over that depression – the same as it did us.

Eventually the cream will rise to the top just like does every time and we'll all be back before too long.

It's kind of frustrating to sit at home and watch the events on Sunday. It's tough to see all your buddies doing well and not be able to be there and, at least, supporting them and having them support you.

But, like I said, first and foremost we're bull riders no matter what tour we're on so I'm just going to have fun, try to do the best I can, praise God and try to win.

Hey. Good luck Reese!! Everyone is Arkansas cant' wait 'til your back on tour!! Hope to see you in Tulsa in July!! NOt sure about the whole 40-man events. They should have kept in with the Top-45...that way all my favorites would stay on tour always...but anyways, can't wait to see you back on tour and on top again.

Ps: Does anyone know how I can get Colby Yates Cd?? I won't be at any PBR events 'til Tulsa so I was hoping I could get on mailed to me. Thanks for any help!!

I just wanted to say that we saw you guys up here in Chilliwack Canada. What a great suprise to find out you were going to be here. We saw all of you in Las Vegas at the finals and to think you're in Chilliwack! We have no PBR on t.v. here in Canada anymore, so it was so much fun to see you guys live. We love watching the PBR anywhere.

Reese, I've never had a doubt that you would return. It's just a matter of time. Glad to hear you guys are feeling better, riding better and setting your goals for the future.

I'm also extremely happy to read another of your posts. Just today we were wondering what was going on with you.

Take care of yourself, stay safe and soon you'll be in the arena for a BFTS event, not watching it on television.

Thank you for blogging again Reese! I sure missed them and thought maybe you were done. I was hoping that wasn't the case and kept telling myself that you were making money to get back on tour and so you didn't have time to blog. Looks like I was write!! So glad to hear that you are getting you confidence back and are close to being back on tour. I always knew you would be back and I figured you would be one of the first ones to come back. We have all missed you and have been praying for you. I am so happy you blogged. It made my day! I was wondering how you were doing on the lower levels as the PBR site doesn't stay to up on those events. Thanks again for blogging and we'll see you back VERY soon!! Stay safe and God bless you (I know he does)!

Just to clear up a of couple things: you can, in fact, keep up with Reese and all the other riders competing on the lower levels.

First off, the Challenger standings can be found at: http://www.pbrnow.com/competition/ct/standings/

You can also see how those riders have done at any given lower level event by going to the rider page of the rider you're interested in tracking.

In the lower rectangular box that lists the "2009 BFTS Stats" there is a tab labeled “2009 CTS Events.” If you click that then you'll have a chance to select a sub-tab labeled "Challenger" or "Enterprise" or "Discovery."

That's where you're going to find a list of individual events that the rider has attended as well as how much money, if any, they won at that particular event.

I hope my directions are clear enough to follow. I just wanted to make sure you all are aware of the fact that, yes, the results are available. Please keep in mind those results aren't updated as quickly as the BFTS stats, but they are updated in pretty timely fashion.

Great to hear from you.
Glad to hear you're having fun and riding bulls. You'll be back on tour before you know it.
We're looking forward to it. Bull riding hasn't been the same since you were cut.
Keep the faith and we'll see you soon. You'll be on top and not have to worry about the cut anymore.
GOOD LUCK AND SEE YOU SOON!

Reese,
Glad your writing again. I saw the tour in Wheeling WV. It was really great to see riders in person and watch them ride. The PBR is great to bring the events to the people at prices they can afford. The closest Ford Tough event is 2 1/2 hours away and unafordable to some. Keep up the faith and you'll be back up on top before long.

Reese way to be positive!!! I know you will be back up soon! I am pulling for ya!!!

Miss you, Miss you, Miss you. I can't wait to see you back on the BFTS circuit. I have been to some events and saw you in Denver and Pueblo But missed you in St.Lewis and KC-MO. Hopefully you will be back on the circuit when I attend Billings. If not I know you will attend Bismarck and Park Rapids. I can't wait. You must be kicking butt at the challenger and lower events. As you can see nobody gave up on you. I can't wait to hear the screams when they introduce you when you come back to the BFTS. It will be awesome.
I was so glad to see Evan Rasch made it back after many years of being off. I love the Rasch boys. So with a lot of work and good luck it can be done. I'm glad you are trying so hard and very proud of you.

Reese: Good to hear you are so close to coming back. It takes real grit and determination to fight your way back up. Hope to see you riding soon at the BFTS and keep the same attitude the rest of the year that got you back!
also, hope to see more blogs at a regular basis from you. Miss
the stories!

I know it's a bummer to get cut, but you will be back soon and we will see you in Nashville. That gives you and the other guys plenty of time to get back in the swing of the BFTS before then. Wow, you shouldn't be depressed. I don't like the system, but it does give some fans a chance to see you guys at a live event which is great for them and probably for the sport itself. It's fun to go to the other events and see the new guys coming up, but sometimes you just want to see some of the guys that are on TV. I know we only had 3 events in Florida this year and they are all over so we are trying for Nashville cause we didn't make Birmingham (the next closest). But if there was a challenger event close, we would absolutely go. So just think of it as a short time out with an opportunity to get more fans. Keep your spirits up.

I just read the article about you turning down the chance to be an alternate on the BFTS. I am very impressed that you are being so patient with this. It truly is a testament to the type of person you are. All the same, I hope you are back on tour ASAP. Good luck!

Hey Reese,

Glad to see you back on the BFTS! But i know you've been having some trouble staying on your bulls lately. And if you ask me it's because of your confidence. You have gotten really close to covering some of them, and if you work on your confidence,i know you will be riding like you were when you won Rookie of the year.

You are awesome, and you still have all of your fans behind you and cheering you on!! best of luck

Hi Reese,
I had not realized that you made it back on tour until I saw you tonight (Saturday) in Billings (on TV). I checked and you are not current on the blog, but hopefully you will be. You are so funny in your writings, it is enjoyable. Good luck and listen to G-man and JW. Sorry I missed seeing you in Birmingham. That was my first event ever, but hopefully not my last. I particularly liked the autograph session. That is so nice of you guys to do.
