Chelsie and I are really happy that our scores have continued to get better each week because that's half of it and we know we have the cowboy community behind us. The judges' scores are half of it and we're not killing them yet, but we have gone up from 14 to 20 and now tonight we were 23.
With Chelsie slipping tonight that was something we hadn't rehearsed, but, at the same time, she has prepared me for mishaps or mistakes. She always told me that if something happens just get back to her and she'll get us back to the right count.
When something like that does happen it breaks the chain of what we're doing and she has to put us on the right mark because every beat of the song is a count. You're supposed to be in a certain place doing a certain step and she got us right back on track.
All I could think about was that I needed to get her back up as fast as I could.
Unfortunately, the fall took out a really great part of the routine that Chelsie was really looking forward to, where we both spin around together. But the main thing is that we kept going.
I told Chelsie that we've been practicing several hundred hours together and I've made about 847,000 mistakes and that's only your second one. I think there might have been one time in practice where she forgot a step and the slip tonight was her second one.
I owed her that one.
She's a champ and she's a tough kid. It happened, but I thought she handled it good and she didn't freak out, got right back up and we went on with it. Afterwards in the press line she was a great sport about it.
That's just the thing, when she fell I just knew I had to keep hold of her to keep her from going all the way down and then get her back to her feet because that's what team work is all about.
It has to help us that our scores are going up.
Like I said, I really feel like we have the support from the western lifestyle – farmers and ranchers – so, I think, the fans are doing their part and we have to keep doing ours by improving our score every week.
Right now Jewel and I are going to have dinner with Justin McBride and Randy Bernard. They were both there tonight and in full support.
When Chelsie fell, my stomach kind of dropped, but you got her up and continued dancing, making it seem like it didn't even affect you. You did awesome and you and Chelsie are one of the best couples on the show this season. And the top hat...ADORABLE! Your 'cool' face was pretty awesome too ;)
You and Chelsie were AWESOME tonight! I'm so proud of both of you. When they showed Jewel in the crowd, she had pride written all over her face. You two must be having the time of your life! Keep working hard...give the judges something to talk about. You have my votes!
Best of luck all my votes go to you.
Barb
Your PBR fans here in Santa Rosa are so proud of you!
You two are a great pair and Chelsie is a wonderful choreographer. The mishap was unfortunate, but you handled it beautifully. Good job! It's easy to tell you are taking this seriously--even to those who don't read your blogs regularly.
Good luck tomorrow night! You got all my votes.
Congratulations on a 23 way to go
I haven't watched many episodes of this show. We tuned in tonight and caught your awesome routine. The way you pulled it together for your partner truly impressed me. I don't know how many of the "stars" could have done what you did. You deserve all the votes and you sure have mine.
Great job!!
Keep going and prove everybody can dance.
You've got my votes.
I thought that you and Chealsie did a wonderful job tonight and the judges did the right thing by praising your much noticable improvement and giving you the score that you worked hard at to earn!!!! I especially loved what Carrie Ann said about your being "professional" in the way you handled Chealsie's slip and kept her from hitting the floor completely and stayed on time and kept the routine going. Thank God for that for those strong arms and awesome upper-body strength!!! Jewel just beamed the whole time you were on the floor! She's one lucky lady!!!
Voting for you in Virginia!!!
Terri
You were so cool tonight..what a long way you have come. We're all so excited for you; the momentum is going your way. We're voting our allowed number of times. Good luck.
You and Chelsie really hit the mark last night. Someone said it earlier, it is really about character and teamwork and you both came through with flying colors on both counts. Can't say that I am surprised.
This is the best season of the show for me. You bring something over and above the lights, the glitter, the fancy wardrobe, the showmanship and the perfectly executed dance steps to the mix. You bring strength of character, strength of will, determination and complete commitment that is all wrapped up in the total package of a real, down-to-earth western cowboy.
Ty and Chelsie, do you think you could choreograph one of your upcoming dances to a George Strait number? And, do you think that Jewel could perform again on the show? If so, that would make it just about perfect for me.
Keep plugging away and we'll keep sending our votes.
You were so smooth out there last night, I was very impressed and proud. Even when Chelsie slipped you handled it like a pro! You looked very handsome in that tux and top hat too. This cowgirl used all 36 votes she had for you and Chelsie, keep up the great work!
You did a super job keeping Chelsie on her feet last night. Wishing you well to the very end of the show.
Can't wait for next week, good luck.
AWESOME-AWESOME, you two were great to watch last night. Loved the top hat. Have fun.

And you handled her fall SO well!
You have improved alot since your first week on the show, and I think you could go a ways in this challenge if you just keep working hard and believe in yourself! I'm rootin' for you Ty!!! -McKenzie C.
You two are a fabulous Team!! And the judges are finally giving you scores closer to what you deserve. "Most Improved"! that says a LOT! And it's so true!
Ty, you looked so good-smooth and debonair (sp?)! VERY Fred Astaire! So VERY proud of you and all of the effort you are putting into this. You're doing the PBR fans proud!
Awesome job! You get better and better each week. All your PBR fans are behind you! Way to think under pressure, great team work!
Jacque
Great save! You and Chelsie are doing great. Keep up the good work. I used every phone I could to vote for you and Chelsie. GOOD LUCK!!
I thought you deserved a 24 last night. What's wrong with Bruno?!?!? LOL!
Well, you are getting a majority of my votes and I can't to see more of you and Chelsie dance this season! Keep up the great work!
All my Love,
Kimber
You and Chelsie were awesome, even with the fall. You just cowboyed up. But I have to tease you about throwing your top hat. You were never one to throw your cowboy hat!
We've never watched Dancing with the Stars before. But we sure are now!
Do you now realize that Gene Kelly was an athlete? who could sing and look good in front of a camera? He was a favorite, if I read the reminiscence right, because he was there for his partners.
What little boy would watch a movie that wasn't a current hot topic? So why would anyone expect a guy to watch old movies, and especially Gene Kelly movies.
You're not a kid anymore. Spring for the Gene Kelly collection, and, surprise, his characters, fictional, could be modeled on a good cowboy, such as yourself.
hoodathunkit.
And when I saw you so in the moment and considerate of your partner: you will be a great dad. Lucky kids.
You can afford more than ya'll can have yourselves, ya know. no waiting.
Keep dancin!
