'Do you know how to twitter?'

About two weeks ago I was doing an interview with "TV Guide" and they were asking me all about my experience and all about dancing. Then she asked me, "Do you know how to twitter?" I said, "Well, so far I've only learned the cha-cha and the quick step." She laughed and then she tried to explain to me what it was.

But, at that point, I had never heard of Twitter.

ABC has now talked to me about it because they want me to start twittering, so they set up an account where I send out short text messages that become instant blogs. It allows me to keep everybody instantly informed about whatever it is I'm doing.

The messages will be posted online at the "Dancing with the Stars" page on ABC.com as well as through Twitter (if you sign up for the service). I'll try and find out how you can receive my tweets and include that in my blog tomorrow.

I wish I knew more, but all this twitter deal is all still pretty new to me.

Today we got up and went to CBS Studios to work on camera blocking from 9:45 until 10:30 and then Chelsie and I did our final wardrobe fitting from 10:30 until 11.

I also called into the broadcast booth at the bull riding event in Birmingham and talked to Justin McKee, Justin McBride and Craig Hummer. They asked me all kinds of questions in order to get an update on how "Dancing with the Stars" is going. It was good to talk with those guys and it was great to finally have a chance to watch the bull riding on Versus last night.

This afternoon we went to practice again and just kept running our routine to try and polish it up some more before tomorrow night. Today I was focused on my technique and trying not to miss any steps.

We had a great practice. In fact, we had several runs that if I could have had any of those runs tomorrow night Chelsie and I would be really happy and, I think, the judges would be pretty happy with too.

Chelsie said that she feels like we're twice as prepared as we were last week. She feels good going into it and so do I. Trust me, it's a lot harder once it's show time, but I'm going to try and be really focused and ready to go.

Hi Ty! I am originally a Jewel fan, and just lately a Ty fan :) You were right about thinking you being on DWTS would create more fans for your sport; and so I have been reading your blog and am very interested in what you mean by the "cowboy code"? You talked about it in the blog about the rider taking out his frustration by throwing the mask at the bull...
I really like the blogs you and Jewel are posting! Good luck tomorrow! And I can't wait to see Jewel perform!

Best of Luck tonight to you and Chelsie.
Enjoyed listening to you talk to the guys in the booth yesterday. They were nice to you and didn't pick on you.
I never miss bull riding when it is on.
Hope your aches and pains are getting less and less.
"Go get-em tonight"

You have my vote!

Ty, I'm a PBR fan who used to be a ballet dancer. If a dance was difficult for me, and I had doubts, my strategy was to say to myself "I'm gonna OWN this dance, and I'm gonna show EVERYBODY." I've seen you dominate broncos and bulls, just put the same hat on. In a theater we say "break a leg" for good luck. But I'll say, "Ride 'em, Ty!"

Hi, Ty,

You've received all my votes the past 2 wks. on Dancing with the Stars; you really kicked it up a notch tonight and looked great! I'm a huge PBR fan, and enjoyed watching you compete in the arena, and now on the hardwood. I would have loved to have seen you and Jewel dance together, and hope she's on the mend. I've sent Flint my best wishes and prayers, and look forward to seeing you and him back on the PBR at Versus again soon.

Have a blast dancing, Cowboy - goes to show that you all can do a LOT more than the Texas Two Step!

Sincerely,

Susie

Ty,
You did so well in the quick step last evening. I am very proud of you, well me and the rest of Texas. Please keep smiling and know that you look really great out there, determined and having fun.

It takes a real man to step outside, okay way outside his comfort zone and compete like a champion. You are truly the King of Cowboys!

Ty, You are doing a great job. Your improvement from dance one to dance two was amazing. I was excited to see you and Jewel (before the injury) were both going to dance. I grew up in a rodeo family more old school(Cody Lambert, Lane Frost,Tuff Hedman, Jim Sharp, you get it). than the PBR (which I just can not get into). I have to say, I never in a million years thought my 86 yr old cowboy day would even think about watching DWTS however, you got him to change the channel over and now he is hooked. Keep up the good work

Find something to focus on besides that there is an audience out there. Focus on Chelsie and don't forget to breath, seriously. If you aren't breathing, it makes you stiff when you dance. It's all okay from now on because you are improving and will keep that going. Fox trot will be good because it is basically danced in a closed position, which is where your comfort zone is right now. But work on that too because some of the dances coming up later you will have to rely on yourself for the steps. But with all the support you have, you will nail it from now on, how could you not be great with all these people who love you and Jewel ? Keep it up, you're making us all proud.

Hey Ty doing a great job. I vote on my land line until they tell me I have exhausted my votes then I get my cell phone out and do the same. I think between the two phones I get around 28 votes. Keep up the good work.

Hey Ty your doing a great job on Danceing with the stars. There is only one thing I can say.I have seen a silly side of you when you first started riding bulls and you were at Cow Palace in San Fransico CA. and you had won an you came in the arena on a Hunter Jumper horse.I can remember Julio M.telling me some of the silly things you have done.So with tha said you need to relax and not seem so tense and have fun.You look scared to death.Have FUN!!!!!
# Posted By Cindy Thompson | 3/29/09 8:22 PM
You have been my favorite bull rider since you were a rookie. Now I am amazed at how well your dancing. I voted as many times as I could for you and Chelsie. It is so cool to see Jewel in the audience rooting you on.
My husband got your autograph for me at the 2007 Finals by telling you that "If you'll give me your autograph for my wife, that I could be her bull tonight"
Do you remember? Keep dancing the way you have and I'm sure you win! All my votes will be for you,

On Dancing With The Stars viewers can vote up to 10 times...or that is what they used to announce. Some PBR fans who aren't regular DWTS viewers may not know that. I think they should announce that on PBR broadcasts since it could make a big difference in the number of votes Ty gets. He needs and deserves every vote he can get.

On Dancing With The Stars viewers can vote up to 10 times per episode. Some PBR fans may not be familiar with this DWTS rule. I think they should announce it on the PBR broadcasts so Ty's fans can give him all the votes he deserves. It could make a big difference to him. He deserves all the votes he can get as he is doing a great job.

WAY TO GO TY AND CHELSIE! You look great on there! Rooting for you to win...your foxtrot was mind blowing...awesome!
# Posted By Tracey | 4/15/09 1:35 AM
Ty, loving you & Chelsie on DWTS . Long time PBR fan, loving this added dimension to getting to know you & Jewel. All the guys should be on Twitter. If you can ride a bull, you can twitter. What's your Twitter id the one with the @ sign like @Ty ? Can't find you! @PBR @GMarchi @JMcBride Yeah, you got the idea!!
# Posted By Gemma | 4/24/09 8:12 PM
Ty You really are a great dancer, and have learned so much, BUT WE MISS YOU ON THE PBR, JDUB is growing his hair, and Justin is lost without you that I believe he lost more hair.
