The season can change in a New York minute

It was a disappointing start to the Built Ford Tough Series. It's not like I rode that bad in Baltimore, but I didn't ride that good either.

I rode one of my bulls right to the whistle and I slapped my other one, but the good news is it's the beginning of the season and I still have that fire rolling.

One bad weekend doesn't ruin an entire season.

Now we're going to New York City for an event at Madison Square Garden and, yeah, it's exciting. Right now I'm on my way to the airport.

I'm going to get a chance to go on the Rachael Ray Show. I know it sounds kind of weird, but I'm actually excited about it.

I also know that I'm going to a New York Rangers game on Wednesday night. I don't actually know what I'm going to do there, but it's for some PR so, I think, I might even get to talk during the intermission.

I wasn't actually going to be there this early, but I got a call asking if I could be there early enough to go to the game and then about 30 minutes later Rachael Ray's producers called me to come in early to record some extra stuff.

Between going to Rachael's show and the Rangers game that's pretty exciting. The game is a pretty cool deal because I'll get a feel for what Madison Square Garden is like with that much energy in it.

Then on Thursday morning I'll be with Randy Bernard and J.B. Mauney to ring the bell and open the New York Stock Exchange.

To have all that rolled into one weekend is pretty big and that's not counting how well I'm going to do at the event. I have a feeling it's going to be a great weekend.

I've never actually been to New York City, so it's a first for me, and I'm really excited about having a chance to ride in Madison Square Garden -- every great sports hero has been to The Garden and competed there, so that's a great highlight for me.

I was talking to someone the other day and they were asking me what I thought about the 2009 season and I said, "I think this is going to be a great year."

It's definitely going to be the best year that I ever had, but it's not going to be as good as 2010. I say that for the same reason that I say today is not going to be as good as tomorrow.

I'm definitely excited and ready to see what this year has in store.

I've got the fire coming off a World Finals in which I did extremely well at – not as well as I would have liked to – but, I mean, rolling into Madison Square Garden I kind of feel the way I did rolling into the Finals.

And it's something that I've been looking forward to. It's only the start of what's going to be a great year.

Hey Reese,
It was great meeting you at Mohegan Sun back in October and I am happy you are finally getting to visit my "town". I will be in Madison Square Garden on Sunday to cheer you on and I know that you will give us some great rides. Maybe You and Randy ringing the Bell at the Stock Exchange will bring us all some Luck with the Economy. Enjoy every minute you spend here. Welcome to the Big Apple. Remember.. We like your "Accent" too.

Just wanted to say a big congrats on winning Rookie of the Year!!! I knew that you would and I had faith in you. No matter what you say, I think you had a dream Finals and it will always be something that you can look back on with pride. Just remember to stay humble and thankful for where you are at and you will always be blessed. The worse thing that you can do is let the fame go to your head. The thing I never liked was fans get to really liking an athlete and then all the fame goes to their head and you change your mind about them. I don't think that will ever happen to you because you are truely thankful to be where you are at and you remember your roots. I hate to give you advise, but to me the biggest thing is a person's attitude. No matter how great they ride, if they are cocky, I will never respect them. It is the ones that, good ride or bad, fame or no fame, at the end of it they are still humble and honest; those are the ones that I will always respect.
It souds like you will be pretty busy! It really sounds like a lot of fun though. I know you will have a great year and kick butt in New York!!!!! God bless.

I just read the article about you in the January issue of Western Horseman. I had talked with your grandmother a few days earlier and she told me you were going to New York early for some PR work. Since my TV stays on RFD most of the time, except for when the PBR is on, I don't usually watch shows like Rachel Ray but I will be watching for you.
Good luck at the event in New York and may God keep you and the other guys safe.

My family and I cheered for you in Baltimore. We had a great time. I think we were walking back to the hotel right behind you. Love those world Finals leather jackets. My son is a big fan. Good luck in New York. Any advice on our fantasy team. Are you a good pick for the weekend? LOL

Best of luck in NYC!!! I asked for tickets to the event for Christmas, but I don't think I'll be getting them this late. I wish I could be there to cheer you on. I was hoping there would be a stop in Albany again this year, but I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens. Stay safe and get a 90+ ride for me!!!

I'm glad to see you are doing so well in bull riding. I wanted to tell you my husband and I knew your mom and dad years ago when we lived in Magnolia. Your dad and my husband worked together and we considered them both good friends. As happens, we lost touch and we hated hearing about your dad. We were both shocked and upset but we know he would be so proud and we would like to contact your mom sometime if we could. We look forward to watching your continued success.
