PBR is also the toughest sport on the world wide web

With the 2009 Built Ford Tough Series underway I thought it wise to update everyone on what you can expect in terms of online coverage of the PBR.

As in past years www.pbrnow.com is where you can find all the updated statistics as well as the injury report that is managed by Dr. Tandy Freeman. We will also be posting daily web features along with updating the blogs on a daily basis.

The blog schedule is as follows: Ty Murray will blog on Monday, Reese Cates will blog on Tuesday, Flint Rasmussen on Wednesday's, Cord McCoy will share his thoughts on Thursday, the Versus broadcasters will rotate on Friday with Brett Hoffman writing on Saturday and, finally, I'll blog on Sunday's.

Though I can't promise answering every question I will try from here on out to use my blog in order to answer some of the more frequently asked questions and, perhaps, address some of your concerns.

As a rule of thumb the Monday web feature will be greatly influenced by the event that just concluded whereas the rest of the week will then be dedicated to previewing the upcoming event – beginning with the TeamPBR member profiles that I have scheduled for Tuesday's. The stories on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will serve to breakdown the event and hopefully provide readers and fans – whether you're attending in person or watching on television – with some insight to the event.

Keep in mind that on Saturday and Sunday mornings we will be posting event coverage along with several highlights for you to look for when you watch that night's broadcast.

Of course, we'll also have the latest news and notes from throughout the PBR that will be posted as it happens. In addition to all that you're encouraged to log onto www.pbr.tv for even more coverage.

Following each event we'll have video highlights from the weekend as well as a twice-weekly video news update hosted by Pueblo native Crystal Mathews. Every Tuesday Crystal will host a three-minute recap complete with video highlights followed by another three-minute preview posted on Friday's.

This new site will also serve as home to five daily podcasts that will be posted during the week.

Monday's you'll be able to listen to my interview with Jerome Robinson as the Colorado legend breaks down the events and provides listeners with his firsthand insight as to what happened. Tuesday's will feature an interview with a stock contractor or breeder and the conversation will obviously be all about the bulls.

With all the added coverage the PBR has been receiving we will also be hosting a media roundtable featuring Melanie Jarrett (espn.com), Butch Thurman (Rodeo Sports Update), myself and other special guests. This particular weekly podcast will allow a multitude of media types to share their inside information from all the various interviews and conversations they have had throughout the week.

Thursday will feature the return of Inside the Bull Pen with Cody Lambert. The PBR livestock director will share his insight as what went into putting together the upcoming bull pen as well as highlighting a few key matchups to look for in Round 1.

A podcast featuring various rider interviews will round out the week on Friday's.

Just remember to keep logging back online to both www.pbrnow.com and www.pbr.tv for all that and more as the 2009 BFTS unfolds and we look ahead to the 2009 PBR World Finals in Las Vegas.

In addition to the new on-line coverage, PBR site events now feature "chute seats". As one who had the immense privilege to have a chute seat at the Baltimore, MD event on Saturday, all I can say is it is a wonderful experience. Yes, I actually had dirt kicked on me from one of the bulls. It's hard to get much closer than that. The riders, the bull fighters and the bulls are right there. I could hear the riders cheering for one another. The clang of the closing chute reverberating beneath my feet. This is bull riding up close and 3-D. Hats off to the PBR for this exciting new opportunity.

That sounds like a really good line up!! I am looking forward to it. Reese's posts are the best and I've been missing them a lot. Thanks for having this site. Are you going to have PBR Prime Time this year?? It doesn't matter either way to me, but I was curious.

Why do you have the PBR on nbc we never get fill coverage so why not stay with verses?

Like others I have been a fan for years and hope continue as long as I am breathing. Have been to Vegas the last four years and plan on returning in 09. My question is why when NBC televise the PBR why they don't buy enough time to show the whole days event instead of letting the fans miss so many rides and leave you wondering who done what. Got to compliment Versus for doing such a fantastic job and hope the continue in doing so. Looking forward to 2009 and of course have my rider picked for the Champ.

Oh man, you're going to make it impossible for me to leave my computer! This all sounds great. I'm surprised and pleased to hear that Reese will continue blogging for you.

One question: Will you be doing more shows like "Bucked" or "Total Bull"?

Did Justin (broadcaster) try to imply yesterday (Baltimore) that Guilherme Marchi won the title because most of the bulls were on his hand at the finals? He mentioned that several times until Ty jumped in and said that he would win in or out of his hand. Guilherme rode 74% of his bulls during the year. Were all on his hand? Justin, please do not try to be polemic and put your foot in your mouth.

I dearly wish there was a way to access the website without getting smacked with a "spoiler" right off the bat. I sometimes like to check the draw ahead of time and pick my winners, so to speak. I have gotten blindsided (just this past weekend, for example, on Saturday morning) by the website showing me that night's winner before the event had even aired. Such a bummer! Otherwise, I think the new schedule sounds good, especially with a few of my favorite bloggers becoming regulars.

I agree about NBC. After not even seeing re-runs since the finals it has been a real dry spell. Then you see NBC. You know the coverage of the event will be really short and you miss more of the event than what you see. What would be great if Verses could carry past PBR finales during the winter break. Sounds good to me.

I hate to watch the PBR on NBC. You miss most of the rides because of all the commercials. Stick with Versus.

Hey, when and why did “The Toughest Sport on Dirt” become “The Toughest Sport on Earth?”

I, for one, am really not happy about that apparent change because it loses the “gritty” feel that characterizes our beloved sport. And now it sounds too much like “The Greatest Show on Earth” which is the slogan of the Barnum and Bailey Circus – not the association we want to have (remember, we call them Bull Fighters not Clowns anymore). I think your marketing guys missed the mark and should be DQed for this suggestion. Yeah, I know the PBR is trying to attract new fans and have wider audience appeal, but don’t try to drift too far from the central theme of the sport or we’ll lose the magic. If you disagree, I humbly suggest that you immediately replace the other PBR slogan, “This ain’t no rodeo” with “Not all that different than a Broadway show.”

Now get up, brush off that DIRT, figure out what you did wrong and keep making the PBR greater !
