I got to New York City last Wednesday for the Rachael Ray Show – about the time I did the last blog – and had a three-day event there, went straight to Denver for another three-day event, tonight I'm in Pueblo, Fresno on Friday and then Sacramento on Saturday and Sunday so we've been on the trail.
It's good being out here because most of us had about a month and half off.
Some guys might have gotten on some practice bulls, but to get on this caliber of bulls 10 or 12 days in a row you definitely feel which muscles in your body you haven't been using.
It's one of those things that if you keep doing it your body will kind of be prepared for it, but, I guess, it's kind of hard to prepare yourself for slamming down against the ground until you just do it.
It's kind of hard to explain, but you're sore after New York City – after getting on four of the best bulls in the world – and then it kind of levels off after a bit.
You sort of peak out on your soreness and then you kind of get used to it. After you ride through it it's not near as bad. It's kind of like if you haven't worked out and then you work out once you're hurting, but if you keep working out it's not near as bad.
It becomes muscle memory after awhile.
But this is pretty run of events. Like the guys I'm riding with now, everybody kind of knows the game plan, well, other than Ryan Dirteater, who's doing this run with us for the first time.
Don't worry. We're walking him through it step-by-step.
I think he's already got the bull riding part figured out. After watching him for the last six months, I think, the rest of world has figured out just how talented he is.
As for the Mohawk he skinned it three or four days ago and his hair is growing fast. I thought he was going to have a signature cut and start a new style, but he went ahead and cut it all off.
And now we have Greg Potter at the wheel – the veteran is along – so I think we're going to make it to where we're headed.
P.S. Tell Reese to post if you see him! He is four days behind and I miss reading them!

You mentioned being in CO this past week. So do you make it to some of the Enterprise and Challenger events? If so, will you do us a favor (that is if this happens). If looks like Brian Canter is going down (I pray he won't, but if he does) will you give us updates on how things are going for him at these events? I'd (we? I'm sure I'm not alone) would appreciate it. thanks, KPeck
California [Sacramento & Fresno] was good for you; looks like you moved up the competition list from around #24 last week to #18 this week. That’s a 25% upgrade!!
Good luck in Dallas this weekend – there’s lots of Texans on the tour so be careful!
B/t/w, this might help: An x-coworker from years back is an x-Okie. He had this story that always cracked me up. Something about Oklahoma Founders’ Day or the “Sooner” nickname, I think, but anyway the Texans all line on one side of the stateline and the Okies on the other. The Texans started throwing sticks of dynamite over the stateline at the Okies. The Okies picked the sticks up, lit the fuses and then threw them back at the Texans!
Good luck, I’ll catch it on TV.
Joe Krivan [California]
PS: Thanks again for signing my “Cordmccoy.Com” cap again!
As New York is about the easiest place to get to we went there and had a wonderful time. It was everything I expected and so much more.
Thank you for the autograph.

we had the pleasure of meeting you. You are great and a real assest tothe PBR. Keep smiling looking forward to seeing you Sat.
When you get a chance, clue us in on the new “Cord McCoy Invitational” this May 29-30, in Ada, OK. I know it’s an “Enterprise” tiered competition, same setup as BFTS but different cowboy/riders. A couple “Enterprise” tier events come thru the Bay Area, esp. the Grand National Rodeo each year. As an invitational how open to the viewing public will the event be, esp. for out-of-state-ers? And how about Ada, OK itself?
And jeez, those Tar Heels weren’t anywhere near as friendly to ya as the Golden State was. But nonetheless, you’re doing a whole lot better than last year [low-, to mid-20s; instead of mid-30s]. I have a bet down; Cord will be drawing the line in his homeland, Oklahoma City, in 2 weeks at the Express Classic. From that point on, it’s 2009 Cord McCoy’s year!
Best Regards,
Joe

Sorry to hear about the accident. God speeded recovery to you and come on back to the tour. Here’s hoping the unlikely, that the injury, ribs, sounds worst than its reality.
Oh well, get well soon!
Joe
PS: Let your fans know if there's anything we can help with!
Happy Birthday! Good to see you're back on The Tour.
Joe
