It's always good to see Larry the Cable Guy. I was kidding him during the opening about how he started off selling t-shirts for the PBR and started stealing my funny lines at the comedy clubs and now he's famous.
He actually did start coming to the events and just hanging out when he was in the area. He would just show up. He was a fan.
This is kind of funny, but a good friend of mine from home – Marty Hill – was working out in Vegas one year and got tickets to the Finals, so he came to the room and he said, "Hey, I heard Larry the Cable Guy is here." I was like, "Well, yeah."
I didn't know he was a big deal. I hadn't really followed his career, but I knew he was famous and a friend of Tater's. My buddy said, "Man, if you could introduce us that would be great."
I was planning on taking him down to the after party and giving him the whole V.I.P. treatment and everything. So we went down there and I introduced them, and I mean they got to yucking it up and having fun. I got tired of listening to them so I went to bed and they went out all night and had fun all weekend.
They've become the closest friends. My buddy was best man in Larry's wedding and Larry was best man in my buddy's wedding.
So it's always good to see him and to see how huge he is. I tell you what was fun was to see people's reaction when he was in the booth. You could have whatever rider getting ready and they were just staring at Larry instead of watching the bull riding. People are just in awe of this guy.
I'm just amazed--they treat him like Elvis.
The amount of everything he's sold and done and the amount of money he's made--he's huge. I'm so proud of him. He was the biggest grossing act in Cheyenne Frontier Day's history last year.
Now I'm the one who has to call Marty when I want to pass a message along to Larry. It's just always fun to have someone new like that in the booth with us.
I thought it was fun hearing him in the booth with you guys, and it really helps that he's an actual fan, not just a celebrity trying to hype a new movie. I'm sure it's tough to balance an interview in while there are rides going on, and there may have been a few times the ride was neglected slightly, but at least they showed the rides.
Overall, I liked the interaction with you guys in the booth both nights, but especially saturday's event (sunday's tv show) But then, I also enjoyed the interaction between Shorty, Darrell and JW.
taking all the credit for larry's jokes? he should be treated like elvis, larry's the best! that was the first time I saw leah go speachless when she interviewed him!
You,Craig and JW and Michael keep up the good work.Love it when you guys are joking around and love seeing leah ask leading questions or joking. My best to all.
However, I haven't seen or heard anything on Paulo since Orlando. Can you get an update and let us all know how he doing. I was so excited he was back and heartbroken when he was injuried again.
Thaks and you guys keep up the great job! I'll be watching on Versus.
