I was looking forward to coming back this past weekend, but when I got on my first bull I wasn't as confident and not so sure I needed to be back. I guess after I actually got on the bull, I didn't feel 100 percent.
I felt like I was all there, but when I nodded I wasn't. As far as getting ready and the chute procedure, everything was great, but when I nodded, I don't know, it wasn't all there.
In the first round I got thrown off pretty quick and it kind of jarred me. I took a little time getting up – maybe a little longer than I should have – but I came back in the second round and drew a really good bull and rode him.
I won the round and it felt good, but I still didn't feel like I was 100-percent up to my game. Then in the short round I rode really good and just got thrown off. I don't know--I let one slip away that I shouldn't have. That really bothered me a lot knowing I should ride that bull.
I knew I could have won the event if I would have ridden him and I shouldn't have not being at 100 percent. It would have been a bad thing for the other guys, but a good thing for me. That would have been great to go to a bull riding event and win when you're not feeling 100 percent, but that didn't happen.
Several people – Cody Lambert was one and Tandy Freeman – said they thought I had come back too early from watching my reaction time and thought I should have taken another couple weeks off, but it's kind of a hard position like that now when I have a chance to ride for $8,000 in the first round in Des Moines (because I'll get to ride for the Enterprise money).
When you have a chance like that it's hard to turn it down. You just have to go and take your chances. Being that I didn't reinjure anything it was like having another weekend off, because I didn't injure myself in any way.
I'm just going to go on with it and keep on moving with it and just stay focused.
Right now you can see that all the guys are getting tired, everybody's ready to take a break, and everyone's getting hurt because everybody's just wore out and exhausted being gone every weekend.
When you go every weekend against these bulls, your body gives up on you, and when you get to losing focus you just show up because you have to be there. It wears and tears on you. It's mentally and physically hard on your body.
But I am looking forward to going to Iowa. I'm little more sore this week then I have been all year (as far as my legs being sore). I went and worked out this morning and I feel better, a little bit looser.
I did a lot of cardio today to try get some movement back in me. While I was off I didn't do anything--I was relaxing and it caught up with me.
Your ride looked great and I'm glad you escaped further injury in what was a brutal weekend for many riders.
Good luck in Iowa and enjoy the break!
Prayers and Best wishes always!!!!!
See you in Des Moines!
I have a good feeling that it's all going to come together for you and click this weekend - 24 seconds and some good scores!
So happy to see that you are doing better healthwise and back riding. I am praying that Chris has as quick and painless a recovery as possible. Both of you are really Ford Built Tough and truly talented riders. Good luck at the future events.
