During the telecast I was really hoping that the national media would pick up on how big of a story this is with Zack Brown. Three years ago he got his guts stomped out, was in intensive care for weeks and it was really scary.
I don't think we talked about just how serious that was for him, the recovery period and then the retirement for two years before he came back to bull riding. I just thought it was huge that in the same arena where he was nearly killed, he came back won nearly $40,000.
It's always a positive when you have a happy ending to a story like that.
It was good for him and I was excited for him. To add to the drama, he was fun to not only watch ride that bull in the short round, but four times he was whipped down over the front end and he kept his free hand up. It was exciting to watch what he did and where he did it.
Good for him, and congratulations to all the riders. It was another phenomenal weekend with big rides, 90-point rides in the Ford championship round. I felt bad for Sean Willingham going 7.9 on that bull, or else it would have been seven rides in the short go.
Yeah! Bummer, that Zack's story wasn't picked up. I know you, or one of you announcers, made that comment during the broadcast. Probably Billings not being a major media market had something to do with that?
But, as I wrote a few minutes ago Yolanda and thought it was fantastic and appreciated that back story. Man, when that replay judge held the results up we were saying they better not take it away from Zack. The replays Versus ran while we were waiting made it pretty clear that his face and maybe every other part of his body touched that bull, but not his free arm. Talk about "Cowboy Up"! That must have made the "Old School" guys smile (just a little bit) and nod their heads approvingly. How Zack stayed on was pure unadulterated grit!
Justin, the short go draft is going real well. You are doing a great job and it is super the focus is on the riders and what they say. Thanks, Dude!
Don
I also agree with Don that you did a great job in the draft and I'm truly enjoying the focus on the short-go draw.

Hopefully everyone will be OK.
Now Justin , you can get off that White Magic band wagon, he got his butt rode off by Mike Lee,
I was thrilled to see Zack ride so well this weekend . I had seen him ride elsewhere over the past two years and he had been doing well. One of our wranglers is a good friend of his- Wesley Cryer who rides PBR touring pro/CBR/NABA/PRCA/IPRA and ABA. He said Zack was retired for about a year. He went through a ton of emotional and physical trauma and to see that great smile and the grit.yes, the media should have piccked up on this and done stories about him.A great win for a great guy. He's an exciting rider and has the charisma the fans love! Love watching him ride and I am thrilled for him.
OK Justin, now that Mike Lee conquered White Magic what bull are you going to push in the next draft?
Billings was my first live event. It was great. I also want to say it was wonderful meeting the guys and getting their pics and autographs. I met Kasey, Brian and Mckennon and talk about personable guys. I loved them before and even more after talking to them, especially Kasey. What a sweetheart.
