My expectations are really high this year

I've got a good bull in Round 1 and, yes, I'm so glad to get this started tonight. I'll try my best and I hope to be better now than I've being doing all the season--without pressure. And I really expect to be the World Champion.

I'm very excited about the Finals.

We've been working all year and we have dreams to be accomplished, wishes that need to come true. In hindsight the year went by very fast and I'm in a very good position. I've not won yet, but I'm going to take advantage of the bulls I pick.

I'm going to go and ride this week without pressure and stress. I hope to stay relaxed the whole time and do my best. I'm feeling very well and my mind is very good. I feel very prepared.

My last experiences will help me a lot this year. I'll try to join the 5 years of experience I've had at the Finals and the 3 years finishing in second place. I'm going to try to do my very best. I know a lot of people are cheering for me – fans, family and friends – so I want to make everybody very happy this year.

Thanks for checking in with us Guilherme! I had the pleasure of meeting you in Anaheim and it's been wonderful to watch you this season. Your riding percentage was one of the things that made it so exciting for me.

Good luck! I'll be cheering for you the whole time.

Guilherme, me and my family have always been pulling for you. You got what it takes and this is your year i can feel it. You have heart and determination and are focused. Will be watching you and looking forward to see you receive your world title. You and some of the others are the PBR and i know you will in the future win more than one, you are one of the great ones.

Hunt for the Buckle...I agree with Jerome Davis.
Marchi is do for the buckle. As was Clint Branger in my opinion the best in his day. He was roobed.

I hope you are the World Champion this year after coming in second for three years. You deserve to be #1. I've been rooting for you all year. Best of luck, stay healthy and see you at the Finals.

You said it. Don't put pressure on yourself, that is key. Hay, in my mind, you are already the Champ and have been since the middle of the season. You have worked HARD at this and you deserve it more than anybody. You made a great ride in round one and I'm sure that will carry over into the other rounds. It is really nice to have you write this. Thanks a lot, and the best of luck to you!

If Guilherme would pick a tough bull instead of one that is easy to ride then he deserves to win, but he is getting bulls that have been rode alot .

I will miss Adriano, he has been my pick for a number of years now. I root for many of the guys but after this year I will focus my rooting for Marchi! I know you will win the championship this year as long as you keep your focus!! Love you all! Bullriders rock!!

Hi Guilherme, I'm Brazilian liviving in Australia I started to work in Rodeos doing sound as a DJ, now I am audio engineer and doing my best in Australia. I feel very proud to know that you're doing very well and representing our Country, thank you very much for that! you deserve the title and its yours mate, you know how hard is to leave our country to do our job in another place but when GOD is with you nothing can defeat you. all the best for you and God Bless you Boadeiro.
# Posted By Guto Monteiro | 11/6/08 11:14 AM
How can you feel good about yourself by picking easy bulls to ride? That's not a sport when you do what you're doing to win!!!
# Posted By squaw | 11/6/08 3:18 PM

I don't like G. Marchi one bit. He makes me really mad. i think he needs to cowboy up and become a real cowboy. and maybe he should try to learn english. Oh forget it i still wouldn't like him. I am a fan of Justin Mcbride and JB Mauney.
# Posted By jm fan | 11/7/08 2:58 PM
I wish that they would not have the draft so that you could not just pick the easiest bull I do not think that you would be able to ride the tougher bull and that is what makes a world champion
# Posted By martha | 11/8/08 6:51 AM
Guilherme you demonstrate all the characteristics of a true champion. Not only do you demonstate the physical prowess of a champion but the mental one as well. It is admirable that you speak more than one language (as most of us Americans do not) and your English is improving daily.
Best of the finals to you,

The Richards Family in Michigan
# Posted By J Richards | 11/8/08 10:26 AM
Wow, imagine that you're a JM fan. Only his fan would make a comment like that. Marchi is a great rider and will be a great champion. Sounds to me like you're just a little bit racist. Get a life.
# Posted By Jennifer | 11/8/08 11:54 AM
I can't believe anyone sitting on a couch can say he picks "easy" bulls! They are animals and is such can never be "predictable"-shame on any one for assuming it's easy. I had the chance to meet Marchi in Vegas and found him to be charming and humble. I think he has earned the title this year-excuse me a 75% average? Hello, that's not easy.
# Posted By lisa richards | 11/8/08 4:06 PM
JM fan, I have to agree with the other blogger. Your comments sounded rediculously defensive & not in a good way. Uh, yeah people from other countries DO tend to speak the language of the country they're from. I'd like to see YOU go to a foreign country, learn the language, develop an amazing career & accumulate millions of fans in the process. Sure does sound like a loser right? You seriously need to get over your love of men who behave like jerks. It's unhealthy. And as for the tears, it seems to me he had worked his heart out & lost. At least he didn't stomp out of the arena & proceed to throw a temper tantrum, ALMOST EVERY SINGLE TIME HE BUCKS OFF. Bottom line, a true champion not only rides like a champion but acts like the gracious gentlemen that Marchi & so many of the other riders; Meier, Shivers, Peterson, Renato, Mike White & Lee (and sooo many others) are.
# Posted By chiefangel | 11/8/08 7:27 PM
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats Champ!!!!!!! I was so happy to see you ride (I'm so excited I forget what bull it was) but any way I was so excited I cried like a baby! You are the best Marchi, and you have proven yourself to be just that!!!!! Don't pay any attention to the negative comments about you on here. You are the BEST!!!!!!! And you definetly earned the championship.
# Posted By Judy | 11/9/08 12:27 AM
Guilherme has been 2nd 3 years in a row and to do that you have to ride the best bull in the pbr his world title has been a long time comeing and if i am not mistaken the draft only started this year and all the other riders got too pick there bulls in the draft as well, Guilherme just rode more bull, the other 44 guys had there chance and could not catch him so well done Guilherme
# Posted By rodney | 11/9/08 2:32 AM
Personally I don't consider Copperhead Slinger, Scaredy Cat, Rewind, etc. easy bulls. Marchi has earned the right to pick any bull he wants in the draft. I love Marchi and the times we have seen him he is a great person. I just wish the fans would learn from the riders - the riders all seem to get along and support each other. All the bulls are as good as Lambert can find and so are all the top 45 plus riders. Here is congratulations to Marchi and good luck to everyone.

CONGRATULATIONS, CHAMP! When you clinched it last night, I think I screamed so loud you could hear it in Vegas (and I'm in Kansas City)!

As Adriano said in the news release, if these people thought you selected bulls that were "easy" then they should step up and show just how "easy" those bulls are.

You've proven time and time again that you can ride any bull they run under you--whether you or the computer choose(s) him. Between your riding ability (with a percent over 4 years that is unheard of), and your obvious love of God, your family, the sport, and its (and your) fans, NO ONE deserves this more than you.

I've had the pleasure of meeting you a few times, and I have to say that you are the ideal ambassador for the sport. Just never lose that smile that lights up the room and warms the heart of those of us on the receiving end, remain humble and gracious but confident in your ability to do the job you so clearly love, and your detractors will remain a small minority.

Again, congratulations! God has blessed you with so much this year, and I'm sure you know that more than anyone. Enjoy it!

Champ,
Congratulations on your win. I couldn't be more pleased. To those who have criticized......when did Copperhead Slinger become an easy bull to ride? How many languages do you speak? This is just the first win. I do believe there will be more.
# Posted By Cat | 11/9/08 9:51 AM
Marchi is the biggest class act in the PRB today. After being robbed of the title in 2006 he kept his chin tucked and laid them away in 2008 and he did it without hanging off the side of his bull for the last 6 seconds and his spur locked in his rope. Hey jm fan, Marchi is the reason your boy McBride is retiring, he knows he can’t hang.

Squaw, JM Fan, Martha, get a life. Just like Adriano say it take courage to be on any bull whether they rank or not. Did any of you every sit on a bull? JM Fan, the riders you mentioned also had high scores because the judges cheated for them, even though their ride wasn't that good. Marchi has been riding the rankest bulls to make it to 2nd runner up for the past three years and a World Champ in 2008. He didn't have to work that much harder to be a champion during the Finals because of his high score throughout the season. Good luck Marchi and congratulations, no better what Squaw, JB Fan, and Martha are saying you deserve this title.

CONGRATULATIONS MARCHI!!! Your hard work this whole season has paid off & you have earned this world championship. I prayed for you before every ride, that God would keep you safe, most importantly, but also help you to ride your bulls well. I was soooo proud for you, your family & for all of us fans. We knew you could do it but we would've continued to cheer for you no matter what happened in Vegas. I salute you for your continued positive attitude during all the nonsense being said on the blogs. You don't pay any attention to the negativity out there! Continue being the gracious, humble man that you are & keep focusing on what's ACTUALLY IMPORTANT. You just enjoy these moments & continue to pray & thank God for all that you are blessed with in this life; your beautiful wife, precious kids, your good health, loving family & an amazing career. ENJOY THIS & let the rest of it go. I hope you & your family have a wonderful holiday season & we can't wait for 09 to begin! WITH LOVE FROM ONE OF YOUR BIGGEST FANS!!!!

Had to blog on this one more thing... Congratulations on your retirement ADRIANO!!! Your fans have loved you & we will continue to love you after your retirement. Seeing you so overwhelmed after your final ride was so moving to me as a HUGE fan of yours. You'll always be a bull rider, you just won't be riding bulls anymore. Your strong faith has been an inspiration to me & to who knows how many others who have met & watched you ride over the years. My daughter & I got to meet you in Jacksonville & you were so gracious to us. We will be at many other events on 09 & we are looking forward to still seeing you around at some of them so don't you disappoint us. :) I know there are plenty of riders who will still be needing your guidance & strong leadership. You have been a blessed man & you have been a blessing to others. I will pray that you & your family continue to be blessed in all your future endeavors. GOD BLESS YOU IN ALL YOU DO & GOOD LUCK FOR THE FUTURE! WE LOVE YOU ADRIANO!!!

Guilherme, congradulations to you and Robson. It was a thrilling World Championship. The only thing is that Adriano retired. He is the greatest bull rider ever. A wonderful person and I know a great friend of you and Robson. What a legacy he has left. If not Adriano I have been routing for you all year.
I cannot believe that someone with any intelligence would say any of the bulls are easy since they are the greatest and toughest bulls in the world and if you think the other bull riders didn't pick bulls they thought they couldn't ride you are mistaken.
The jm fan shouldn't waste his time blog you, he should blog jm since he is his fan. See if you can see him bloging anyone.

Want to be a true champion do like Justin McBride and pick the bulls no one rides not just the ones you know you can ride or the pud bulls. Better watch out for Reese as he's a up and comming champion just like the true champ JUSTIN McBRIDE

jm's comments on ridres and stock contractors sat. and sun. even made the other commentators uneasy, he put them on the spot with such rudeness. that was not fair to them. who says only bulls from ok. are the only good ones, kish has good ones to and so do other west coast breders. You are NOT perfect remember that.
# Posted By suzan a | 1/20/09 2:19 PM
by the way jm fan cody l. has NEVER picked a easy bull for the pbr he goes out of his way to choose bulls, yes some are young and never been tried but how else do you get new bulls? cody l. gives all stock contrators a chance and thats only fair, if the bulls don't buck you don't see them again, if their scores are low you don't see them again untill they prove themselfs. there is no easy bulls in the pbr.
# Posted By suzan a | 1/20/09 3:02 PM
I would just like to say that I have seen every bull rider, most especially JW hart and Adriano Morias, through a temper tantrum in the arena. I feel it was real steap what they put on Kasey Hayes. I felt though he handled it with dignity and made me proud of him. Also I would like to know what happened ever to Jody Newberry did they just run him out with all the bs they put on him the last time he was at the finals?

Guilherme, I am e mailing you even if this is an old blog, just to make a comment. You are a true champion and I am tired of hearing any criticism about a real gentleman. You have never shown anything but what a champion is.
I went to the Winston Salem, NC event and spoke to you and Robson and both of you are such gentlemen and are so fan friendly. I only wish some of our American bull riders would take lessons from you all. Both of
you are so willing to be so kind and show such big hearts in the arena and off. You have never failed to sign or pose for pictures with your fans. Adriano was such a great example for all of his fellow countrymen. I cannot believe that so many of the fans are expressing such rude, critical and untrue remarks about so many things. The blogs have brought out so many unkind people and it is not fair for the bull riders to have to read so many awful and untrue remarks when you and all other bull riders are trying so hard to be successful in the PBR. I am disappointed in some of the public.
I know there are many fans that appreciate the sport and all of the bull riders competing in the sport. I just want to thank you and other bull riders for making the sport great and something to look forward to every week. You have to know we support you all the way and thank you for the great Champion you are. God Bless You!

Way to make a point Joan. I agree with you 100% Guilherme has a wonderful attitude and is doing great. I loved his ride on White Magic tonight! I don't agree with Chris. Guilherme has the right to fight for his score! He acknowledged the Judges were correct and let it go.Casey threw the helmet at the bull. He has acknowledged his error and we need to let that go.Both are riding great and have not done anything close to what the athletes in some other sports have done. I give kudos to the PBR for their strict rules. It can be very hard.
# Posted By amcarter | 2/23/09 4:37 AM
Guilherme I am proud of you , I knew that you would come around soon. Stay positive and ride like what got you hear. You can ride anything when you put your mind to it. Good Luck

May God bless you and your family Guilherme, you are a great example for our children and there was one bull rider that when I first started to watch I was horrified at his behavior thoughing chairs kicking thing just plain throwing a tantrum very childish I believe that you will break all kinds of records and the love you show for the sport the bulls your family and most of all GOD says a great deal about the great man you are, never give up we believe in you

Hi Guilherme. My husband and I have been watching the PBR on Versus since January of 2008. We tape every event. My husband is an Ariano Morales fan and you are my favorite bull rider. I was in tears with Joy when you won the world finals. I was thrilled this last weekend when you rode Big Tex. Tell Patricia hi and she is very pretty. Your children are sweet and your son was born on my grandsons birthday. I hope one day I can meet you. Take care and keep on riding.

Guilherme, Congratulations! Your ride on Big Tex was the best! Add you were spurring! Man, it was great. I think you have a strength that few understand. When you lost the World Championship to Adriano you could have quit. But you did not. You came back the next year and defeated all comers! It is about riding steady, week to week and riding the big ones! You do that. I think you will repeat this year. Keep riding Guilherme, they can't keep you from winning forever.

What you did last night (May 2, 2009) in Worcester, MA really pegged you way up high on my admiration -meter! I am so impressed with you right now!! When the bull reared up and fell on top of you in the chute and Renato pulled you out, and you were shaken up but mad...so you got back on that bull and covered him like a champion! I thought you were about to ride him an extra 8 seconds!! What a cowboy!!! Congratulations on a great ride, Guillerme!

Hey Guliherme, Brians Aunt Sharon here. Me and Grandma will be at Brian's in October again. Can't wait to see you and your family. I am praying so hard that you will be the 2009 World Champ. (Last year was awesome.) Best of luck to you and I will definently see you in Vegas in November. Until then, hang on to those bulls, and God Bless you and your family.
