I Already Voted!

Yes, the title of my blog this week has to do with voting. As our country counts down to one of the biggest and most important Presidential elections in our history, I think PBR fans, staff, and riders should be reminded that Election Day falls between the two weekends of the World Finals.

That means that many of us need to vote absentee, and my ballot is sealed and ready to be mailed. I am a big advocate of voting, and it is a great privilege that we are given as Americans.

It was great being in Ohio the past couple weeks because a guy on the street registered me like 8 times. Relax, just kidding. I'm not going to tell anybody how to vote because I don't really think this is the place. It would be more fitting to reveal my political affiliation here, however, than in the arena during a show.

Do celebrities and people in the spotlight really think they have more expertise than the average American? There are many celebrities out there that do help me decide which way to vote, though. THE OPPOSITE OF HOW THEY ARE VOTING!!

Anyway, I try to stay updated and informed on the political scene, and I have some pretty strong feelings which are based on my core values and beliefs both socially and economically. My mind will not be changed by an emotional response to a blog on a web site, so I will leave it at that.

Get out and vote!

Columbus once again did not fail in providing us with great fans. I am reminded every year why I enjoy that event so much once I step in the arena and feed off the enthusiasm in the arena.

O-H-I-O!! Where else can you go that everyone is so anxious to correctly spell their state's name?

I thought Zach Brown saved the night by riding his bull in the championship round even though he had the event won. Zach has kind of been up and down like the stock market this year, but he is sure on the upswing at the right time of year.

After watching his career in both rodeo and the PBR, he is the kind of guy that could win a pile of money in Vegas if he gets on a roll.

I read some of the comments to other blogs when I get a chance and the Justin McBride topic always seems to incite lots of opinions. I know that many of you think that the PBR is out to make him its biggest star, but he IS the defending world champ.

I also feel like there is a different feel at the live events compared to TV.

In my entire career I have never seen a rider greeted with more enthusiasm and excitement than McBride. Have I ever seen him awarded more points than what I thought the ride was worth? Never. I can understand some people thinking that watching on TV, because it just looks different at ground level.

I have heard conversations in our locker room about how hard a particular bull was to ride, but he almost made it look too easy. Whew, I really went in a round about way to say that his ride in the long round on Saturday night was awesome. No argument on that 90-plus point score.

By the way, from a guy that's been around him and his family...Great guy.

So who am I pulling for in the world title race? MARCHI!!

That guy is so good and has earned it. He will be a great champ and a good role model to be the face of the PBR.

We're headed to the Mohegan Sun this week, and I always get jacked up for this event. If you live back east and you are kicking around the idea of maybe going to this event, believe me, it is well worth it. It is one of the most beautiful facilities I have ever been to, and the crowds are always a blast. Plus, this is the final stop to determine who gets into the World Finals and who doesn't.

Great restaurants in that place, too. It's the little things that make me happy.

I will then fly from Connecticut to Indianapolis because I am speaking Tuesday night at the delegates' dinner of the National FFA Convention. FFA is a great organization of young people and I rarely turn down an opportunity to speak in front of a group of them.

I have always said the world would be a better place if it was run by people who were in things like FFA. Thanks to Wrangler for giving me the opportunity to share a message with those kids.

Well, thanks, once again, to all you fans who come to the live events and really see what our shows are all about. But keep watching us every week on Versus and stay passionate about our sport.

It is cool to see opinions about riders expressed with such emotion on our comment board, because it hasn't been that long ago that nobody could name any of the most famous cowboys. Dang, this beats a real job!

Laugh Always, Flint.

Flint, I'm hoping to get to my first PBR event in Winston-Salem in January. I've heard they're awesome, and I can't wait. Most of the time I've had to watch on TV however. Wish they would show more of you dancing! You're the greatest.

You are right, Flint. TV is good if you can't attend but there is nothing like the PBR LIVE!

My daughter and I (whom I brought to NYC this January for our first-ever event--you were the absolute highlight of her weekend) will be at Mohegan Sun all three events, a gift from my incredibly generous boss. I've been so focused on the end of season stats, that it just put bubbles in my heart to remember that we get to see YOU again! I am not sure I could survive the tension and excitement of watching the sport live without you making us laugh between rides. Bless you for all that you share with us. Rock on.

Amen to that! We're voting via Absentee Ballots as we noticed way long ago the election was sandwiched between both weekends in Las Vegas. So the ballots are sealed and mailed. Did you notice a couple riders wearing political stickers on their vests? How about that bull.....Raisin McC....! Hmmh? I'll be in Vegas for all 7 events can't wait to see you dancin' in the bleachers..or nose bleed section but I'll be there for all the excitement. See you there Flint!!!!!!!!! You're a blast for the crowds.

Flint,
I enjoy watching the PBR on TV, especially you bullfighters. A person can really see how close the bulls get to you men and when they get to close and give you a big flip in the air.
And you get up unhurt.

You are right. There is NOTHING like a live event. I am planning on attending my 3rd live event, in March of '09 at Kansas City. Hopefully I'll get to go to St. Louis too, but tickest are so high. And you are right. Rides do look way better on ground level than on tv. On tv they look a lot easier then they look in person. And I for one am guilty of not taking that into concideration when I think somebody got a maybe too high score. Thanks for bringing that to my attention again. I had kind of forgotten. Flint, I have to say you make the events so much more fun by making us all laugh. Most of the time I can't stop!!! Keep up the good "work" and stay safe.

Good Blog Flint. I will also root for Marchi, he has been 2nd fiddle for too long, he deserves to be #1. I am from the East Coast, and up here we are fortunate to have two of the best PBR events of the season. The Worcester Classic early in the season, and The Mohegan Sun event to close out the regular season in October. See Ya in Connecticut!

WELL FLINT, I FINALLY MADE IT TO MY FIRST LIVE EVENT IN COLUMBUS ON FRIDAY AND I HAD A BLAST. I HAD TO WAIT ALL YEAR TO GO TO THE EVENT BECAUSE THAT WAS A BIRTHDAY GIFT FROM MY HUBBY ON VALENTINES DAY. WOW, WAS IT WORTH THE WAIT AND BELIEVE ME IT WONT BE MY LAST TIME. I ENJOYED EVER BIT OF IT. YOU HAD ME LAUGHING ALL NIGHT LONG.THE TV VIEWERS DON'T GET TO SEE ALL THE FUNNY THINGS THAT YOU DO. I LOVED THE YELLOW MOHAWK AND THE RED CAPE TOO FUNNY! I MET A FEW OF THE RIDERS ON THE STREET ON THEIR WAY IN AND THEY WERE SO NICE AND LET ME TAKE PICTURES WITH THEM AND I THANK THEM FOR THAT. THEY ARE KIND TO THEIR FANS. I CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR TO SEE YA'LL IN COLUMBUS AGAIN. I HAD A GREAT TIME. COUNT ON SEEING ME AT THE POLLS TO VOTE TOO.

Flint is always great!! It is true that there is nothing like a live event but sometimes they are too far away from where you live. Would like to see one come again to Indianapolis. Some are also better than other venues. I have also met several of the riders and they are all very fan friendly and have great sportsmanship to each other. Keep up the good work all of you!!

Hey, Flint! I haven't seen you around town much, but I'll see you in Las Vegas! Have fun in CT - you know we'll be watching!

Hi Flint: Always enjoy your blog. We just got home from the Columbus event. We go to that one every year (even though its an eight hour drive for us). Also enjoyed the Quarter Horse Congress for the first time. Saw several of the PBR riders there as well. May I please put a feather in the cap of one of the riders? I obviously don't know the guys personally but on a fan's perspective I have to say that Cord McCoy is absolutely wonderful. He has such a great attitude. I have never seen him not smiling!! And he never throws a "temper tantrum" like some do (you got little kids watching you guys!!) Cord is such a sweetheart and even though I am old enough to be his mother he's abit of a flirt! (Makes my day - we're both redheads, maybe that's it!). Anyway, we went to Finals last year so we can't go again this year - have a ball! Linda From the Finger Lakes Region up in New York State

Thanks for the blog -- they are more work than you'd think, aren't they? My mother (78 and a major PRB fan) and I are wishing the best for Marchi. It would be wonderful to see him finally make the top. This year - the vote is so, so important. Major kudos to you for reminding people to plan ahead. Blessings to you, the bullfighters, and all the riders.

Flint, I love when you blog! You always have the funniest way of expressing things & my daughter & I love that about you!! We were actually able to meet you after the 2nd night of the Nashville event this year. You were about to get into the elevator & you were nice enough to stop to take a picture with my daughter & sign her 8 Seconds magazine. She's got her fav riders but you're hands down her #1 favorite of all! We were blessed to be able to go to 4 events this season (our 1st season ever watching PBR) & we've already got our calendar marked for as many as we can manage next season. I have NO IDEA HOW IN THE WORLD you managed to find out about & get this job but I can't imagine another soul who could do it like you! We go for the bull riding & seeing the riders & bulls is our priority but, man, you help make the times in between rides worth all that money we pay for those extra good seats!! (HAHA) We love you Flint! Oh, by the way; keep that throwing arm in shape so you can keep on "fighting" those bulls by throwing your hat at 'em. (one of our favorite moves) What would the riders do with out you?? Keep jammin' to those 80's & we'll see you next season! GOD BLESS YOU!!

Aww. I'm, pretty much, the only kid in my school who likes bull riding, but I'm not in FFA. Now all the FFA kids get to go and watch you talk, but they'll have no idea who you are. :[

Flint!
I camt to PBR at Mohegan Sun over the weekend, is was awesome like always (and YES, much better than on TV!). I agree with Jaye, I wish they showed more of you goofin around on TV because you're hilarious. But I think your michael jackson dancing skills are AWESOME! haha.
Anyways, I won't see ya again till January at Madison Square Garden for my 3rd time attending PBR!

Hi Flint - I grew up in Wisdom and knew your grandparents very well. Knew your dad a little. Been wanting to say hi for a long while, but just now found the blog.
My husband and I LOVE watching PBR as much as possible. We are especially impressed with the respect the riders have for one another, always pulling for each other. It's the only sport we watch on TV, and that is one of the reasons. Enjoy the glimpses we get of you, too, since I "almost" know you!!

We'll be tuning in for the finals! Thanks for all you do for the sport.

Hi Flint, I just wanted to say Thank You again for taking a few minuets to talk with my Dad (Smoky Joe, the 90 yo bull rider) before the final event at Mohegan Sun on Oct 19th. That day meant the world to him and you helped to make it SO special for him. He will never forget it (and neither will I)

Thanks again from the bottom of my heart and keep on doin what you do best....entertain us all!

God Bless

Flint, I was glad to read you telling people to get out and vote! More important than ever this year. I went to Mohegan's 2nd round and The PBR show always lives up to my expectations. Especially you! We will be looking forward to Worcester in May{atleast no snow storms getting there in 2009} Yes there are fans in Vermont and New Hampshire!

Awesome, job with your song in round one.

Sadly, I'm missing the PBR World Fianals this year, I won't get to see Adriano or Justin ride for the last time, see the great competition or see the amazing Flint perform.

If you've never been to a PBR Live event, you need to go, everything is better than TV, plus you get to see Flint.

I've been in the entertainment industry for over 15 years and have worked around many entertainers. Some of the best are those who can be very spontanious, Flint is one of those and what he does is truly amazing, it may look easy from your seat, but it is a very difficult job to do and Flint does it with ease and truly has fun doing it.

If your in Vegas during the Finals, make sure to check out Flint's live show during the day before the bull riding events.

Take care ya'll.

Flint...You are awesome. I was at the World finals this weekend 31st-2nd. Best weekend I have had in a LOOONG time. Probably the best weekend since the last finals I went to in 2005. I LOOOOVE your song "the PBR from coast to coast all summer long". You know how they saw things happen for a reason...let me tell...they do. I brought my dad to the world finals this weekend and it happened to be the world finals that my fav (Justin) and his fav (Adriano) were retiring. And what even more when we came in 2005 that is when my fav bull of all time (Blueberry Wine) and my dads fav (Little Yellow Jacket) retired. Both times were awesome. You make the intermission so much fun. What would PBR do without you?!?! Well, the reason for that LONG story, I love the PBR. I feel so much at home with the PBR. I am from Southern Cali. I hate it here. I belong on a ranch! But a ranch is nowhere around me. the only bit of country I get is going horseback riding in an old riverbed just outside of town here. I go at least once a month. It's $75, but I feel SOOO free on the back on horse. And when I at a PBR event, I feel at home. I hope to see in February when the PBR comes to the Honda Center. I will be there...you can count on it! Thanks Flint and the whole PBR. My home away from home!

Hello Flint, Will you be at Cowboy Christmas this year? You are the best part of Cowboy Christmas.
# Posted By Liz | 11/4/08 10:41 PM
First I voted absentee, got my ballot on one day, filled it out and mailed it back the next. VOTING is one of the things that keeps us FREE. I have never missed an election since I was old enough to vote. My husband and I just arrived home from PBR in Vegas. My husband rode bulls a long time ago, in fact, Jerome Robinson taught him to ride, funny how time flies. PBR is GREAT. We were ther Thursday when you sang, you are really good. I would love to have a copy of your song. You are nothing short of amazing! You are the stuff heros are made of. Looking forward to see you again.

Hi Flint,
I recently attended the world finals with my parents after having not been to one in 13 years! (I was at the first two.) My parents have gone every year and although they are big bull riding fans, they say you are what keeps them coming back. I soon understood what they meant. Your witty humor, awesome dancing, great songs, and of course fan participation is greatly enjoyed by our family. Keep up the good work and good luck in '09!!!

P.S. I loved your voting message.

Flint, at the finals last weekend, as I watched another tray of fully level cups of beer coming up the stairs, then down the aisle above me, I thought of what a hilarious imitation skit you could work up, and at the end, advising folk to just drink a few sips, hey, it's alcohol, nobody's going to catch germs from you. The bent knees and utter imbalance of the carrier is funny till you get some spilled down your back and I have experienced that!

I attended the first weekend of this year's Finals and enjoyed every minute of your sparkling performance. Your song was touching and beautiful and funny all at once, "Flint Rock"--when is a recording going to be released? It has haunted me for two weeks, and every time I hear the song, "All Summer Long", it brings back that magical weekend in Vegas for me. Thanks for all you do to enrich our experience.

Flint,
Man! you rocked the T & M Center Sat. nite 11/08/08 with that coast to coast tune,... we go to the Finals every year because that is the closest event by miles,....and that is the big one too, thing is we follow the event on Versus/Fox channel all year long, so we know who's in the running for which title,...we enjoy your show at every commercial breaks,... keep up the good work, but there are times that I wish you stay on during a break,...keep those that are staying home watching tv a break from other commercials,..... anyway keep rocking,.....see ya again next Nov.,......

Hi Flint,
I was lucky enough to go to the PBR Finals this year. It was the first time I'd been to a performance vs watching it on tv. I liked it way better than the NFR. You are awesome and I love the PBR All Summer Long song. As a barrrel racer with sense of humor, the jokes are great too. Will you be marketing the Kid Rock spoof?
Take Care,
Shawna

Flint, I'm going to the PBR event in Reno and just to make
sure I didn't miss my vote in my city's municipal election, I
already voted absentee
